Not sure why you expected differently, very little success of having annual fees waived by CBA

10,000 points is very nice and worth about $800 to me so I would much rather points.

I'll give them a call when I get the new cards as I am not that happy about the Visa offering..

How do you get value of $800 ? I would think it is closer to $50-100.

1/8 of First class ticket...10000 points

It's not the points, its the principle... why do I have to pay the inflated annual fee for less benefits?

Will continue to hassle them as my current annual fee is waived... why can't they do it again?

No-one is forcing you to pay... You can always cancel  but I know what you mean.

These changes are what most airlines would call an "enhancement"

So these 10,000 points can/will go to QFF??????????????? or are they silly CBA use only?

I have assumed the 10,000 points would be transferred to QFF in that calculation.

If not then the points are worthless really and your $50-$100 would be correct!

I'd like to see you get $800 value from 10,000 points in QF:!:

I called again and took the 10,000 points...
Did some calculation... its not $800 as you said, for me, its roughly $450, so im intending to keep it for another half a year. (Before my anniversary date)

Will those points go to QFF

192000 points for J SYD-LAX
$15,000 roughly if paying for that flight
Therefore
10,000 points is $780 worth of flights

Yep will go into QFF.

I know your calculation, but since I don't fly to the states with Qantas... I wouldn't redeemed in that higher burn rate. But your calculation is correct.

I mostly fly to HK and then to the states & europe via cathay... But i guess $450 is good for 6 months, then i will call again :)

Hmmm I'll ring them tomorrow as I am not happy with the new promo, 10,000 points may persuade me to keep the card!

I haven't spent much on it though over the past few months, so may wait until Nov/December spending hits!

The calculation was for Flashware :)

Always appreciate your input in here!

Basically
Amex
3 Qantas points per $1 until 1st Feb
Bonus 1 point per $1 for the first 5000 points

Then after 1st Feb
1.5 Qantas points per $1

But there are caps which are pretty poor!
ok,

so if I have the amex platinum via the CBA thing,

I get 3 QFF per $1, so do you get 4 QFF per $1 for the first 5000 points?

I tried everything to get my fee to be waived, ended up spending 3hours speaking to multplie people, didn't have any success.

however, under my account info, it used to say $200 annual, fee, but now it doesn't say anything since i ordered the amex, so im hoping that it may have given me a free year,

however, if the fee does appear, I will be cancelling it immediately and using a family members citbank platinum fee free!!

3 QFF points per $1 until 1st Feb
PLUS
An extra 1QFF point per $1 until you hit 5000 BONUS (boni) points

Has anyone received the new Amex card yet ?
I've just received the new Amex Platinum and the new Visa Platinum cards in the mail today.
According to the letter both cards can be used from today and the old Visa will stop working 30 days from the date of the letter (24 Oct 2009)

Thanks I did read somewhere that they would be posted out from the 23rd of October, but I believe that the promo points and 3 points on the Amex are only valid from the 1st of November but I'll look into that further tonight!

Mine arrived today- nice looking cards.

So in summary, correct me if I'm wrong, with the CB AMEX, you get:

PRE FEB 2010
4 QF points per $1 spent to the first 5000 points. (ie: First $1250 spent)
After the bonus, 3 QF points per $1 spent.

POST FEB 2010
1.5 QF points per $1 spent.

If in theory, I do all my shopping (inc XMAS) at **** Smiths, Woolworths & BigW, I'd be getting an extra point through woolworths rewards.

ie: 10K worth of shopping = 41,250 QF Points.

PRE FEB 2010
4 QF points per $1 spent to the first 5000 points. (ie: First $1250 spent)
After the bonus, 3 QF points per $1 spent.

4pt/$ for the first $5000 dollars or 2 months, whichever is first. ie. An extra bonus point per dollar: Max 5000 for platinum, 3000 gold, 1500 standard.

So do you get the bonus point for the first $5000 or 5000 points? (only $1250)

Sorry, a bit confused.

I'll quote off the website, hopefully that's the clearest ;)

"If you are an existing customer, request your new cards before 30 November and you’ll receive an additional point for every $1 you spend on your new Commonwealth Bank American Express® Card for the first two months."

"Maximum bonus points available during this promotion are capped at 5,000 (Platinum), 3,000 (Gold), 1,500 (Awards)."
