Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I'm on a J fare so it depends on what time I get up.

I was actually hoping to be on the 7am flight as it's an A330. I like those planes.

If I'm at the airport early enough, there are a few people I actually know flying around the same time so maybe we can do a CL coffee?? (This would ONLY be for people I have met. NO exceptions!)

Yippeee!!!! :mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

1. If you're now off roster DF that's a sign you should be there!
2. JQ35 is not sold out, repeat not sold out. You can still do a TT price match.
3. Your SWMBO is O/S.

You've got all your ducks in a row - it doesn't get any better.

Temptress :)

Updated again!

(on 414, who's in 34B and 25B/D/J? [no row 23/24 seat has been allocated])
I'm currently 25J on 414.

If some people are keen for a non-CL coffee/tea before hand hit me up. That includes you bossreggie. :)

If I've missed anyone, please re-post and amend

Achtung all you Mexicans or should that be Hola:

Put your thinking caps on & think of some good bars or bars/eateries that would be a possibility for Saturday night for 20 plus people either in the CBD or Southbank & we can possibly make a decision in the Flounge when we've got everyone there.

Ditto for a stretch limo(s) - not sure how many fit it to one but it may be the most economical way to transport everyone into town unless we hijack the Skybus!

Not sure if many people plan to go to DJ's The Lounge on arrival however assuming the flight is on time & gets in to MEL at 1530, once we get through customs & into our mode of transportation it'll be about 1600 so then in MEL CBR at 1645ish which could be dangerously close to the beginning of happy hour somewhere! :p

Ahh yes, that is a good flight to get! probably just a tad early for me on a Saturday and not driving to the airport! Certainly up for a CL coffee if I am there when you are

hmmm.. not sure where a riff-raff of 20 odd people will get in on a saturday night in MEL!! Skybus is so easy to get into town too.. for dinner I could possibly ask the guys at Blue train how they are placed for a group that big?

Sadly I will have to depart soon after arriving in MEL as I am working that evening at the Tennis.. However if it is a short game I may be able to re-join you all afterwards. I am sure there are a few bars in Richmond way that you'd be able to get into!

FWIW, as a local of "Mexico", my plan is to use my Myki to catch either the 16:25 479 bus to the city or 17:00 478 bus to Essendon R/S then train it to the city.

Cost for me is nil as I have a Myki 'pass' with validity; others with MiKi "Money" cost is $3.30 (all day zone 1/2 weekend pass.)

I do have a spare Myki I can loan, otherwise 2H Z1/2 Metcard fare is $6.50 and can be purchased on the bus.

Maybe we all need to do a Myki run! Coupled with a Flounge run then JQ it sounds like a genuine case of going from the sublime to the ridiculous!

Where do we buy these Serfty? Can we get them at Tullamarine? What would be the best option for 24 hours ie 2 x half days ie Sat arvo & Sun am?

I'll only have carry on but is it a suitable option should anyone have a suitcase?

I'll be going to the DJ Lounge and thence to ADL. So one less riff raff to get into a place on a Saturday night, even if I won't be wearing a wallabies jersey this time

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

Hmmm. I've done this in the past and it's a pretty slow way of getting to the city. I think I might stick with Skybus.

Oz, you won't need to get a Myki, just a 2 hour zone 1/2 Metcard which the bus should sell.

Unfortunately Myki's cost $6 + stored credit to 'buy' ($3 concession). i.e. You buy one, then "top it up" with $.

This cannot be done at the bus stop. I could pre-purchase some and load with $4 to cover the fare for $10 a pop, but at that rate a Metcard at $6.50 has less short term pain. Note that by 2013, this will be the only way to pay for travel on Melbourne metropolitan public transport - this would be an investment for some.

How to buy - myki

And with some forms of public transport only taking coins (eg: trams), it makes life much easier for even the occasional traveller to MEL.

I have a Myki, along with a Go Card (Brisbane) and MyWay (Canberra). If Sydney moved with the times and got rid of the magnetic stripe paper ticket then I'd have one for Sydney as well.

As for the event, I've now had my plans for this Saturday cancelled and moved to the week after. I'm considering joining - will review the thread later and get a greater insight into what the plans are :D

ISTR you guys used the 901 bus service via Broady station - that's a very long way to do it (although the service is more frequent). The 479 bus at 4:25pm gets one to the city by 5:15pm, the 478 5pm bus and train gets you to the city around 5:45pm.

Per trip the Skybus costs $13 ($26 two trip ticket) or $16 - takes 25 minutes.

Carry-on is fine; I've never seen more than a dozen people in these buses - even checked luggage would be fine (the only issue being lugging it the 400 metres to the bus stop).

A group that size can be accommodated at plenty of establishments across the city. The issue is booking in advance. Those who attended a recent MEL dinner can attest to this. ;)

Is there any indication of how many people are actually going to be in MEL for dinner that night?
I know some MEL-based attendees may head home after the run, and others may fly onwards from MEL that evening.

Also, I still don't know if I'm coming or not yet.

Dfcatch doesn't do public transport .....

DYKWIA!!??!!??

Although the Broady line can be entertaining.... In terms of adventure - i'd rate it alongside an overnight transit in MGA ;)

Just book a flight to AKL and come and have a pre-lunch lunch with me!!

Probably similar cost to MEL and more SC's!!

Myself and +1 will be staying at the Airport Holiday Inn so no dinner for us in the city, thanks :(
We'll probably dump our bags at the hotel and head back to the airport for a drink or two before meeting friends later on.

On Sunday we are off to AKL so another visit to the Flounge :D

Looking forward to catching up with some 'old' faces and meeting everyone else I feel I know so well...

Confirming that I am a scratching from the F Lounge run :(:(:(

The lack of cheap seats on JQ35 makes it hard to justify (about $600 minimum including positioning flight). And I have just had an offer for a game of golf on Saturday morning on the Mornington Peninsula.

However be in MEL on Saturday night and Sunday if anyone is keen on dinner / brunch.

Is there any indication of how many people might be interested in a dinner in MEL on Saturday?
