Oops.
Somehow this dropped off my radar.
Looks like I'm doing Business Max for the flight.
Anyone else in the front cabin?
Should be in the Flounge by 10am.
Who is doing dinner in Mel and what is the plan?
Missed out on LawLass's Chilli Crab Stack dinner last year.
Anyone up for a repeat?

I'm up for MEL dinner that night. Stoopid oversold JQ flights...

Geez... even no YASAs on JQ35 any more (not even a stupidly expensive one) - no entry exists for the flight!

I'm guessing the tennis is doing it as well, though I also wonder why there was this weird fetish for people to book JQ35 (i.e. not just us, but any schlub). Every time we are on that flight it's filled with D sticker people. They know it goes through the international terminal, it usually isn't the cheapest of the JQ SYD-MEL options, most of them either aren't smart enough or won't have access to lounges, so why do they take this flight?

Have we had any suggestion of what's actually happening for the birthday bash?

Perhaps we should crash my prawn and crab stack place (again) :)

Missed out the last time, so I'm game. I suggest it is Tippins call, being Birthday Boy and all.

Yeah I was only kidding, it's hard enough getting a table for 5 :)

Really? What is this, a hole in the wall restaurant? Could always book multiple tables (or it's hard enough to get 1 table, then add to that the sudden inflation of MEL's population thanks to events etc.)

Sorry for the glib question, but I remember seeing the stack in a picture, just not the size of the place. Of course I'm not very good with peeling seafood (part of the reason why I don't run quickly to peeling prawns or cracking crabs), so I'd be the slowest eater of such a stack.

I’ll be WP after that weekend, so shall fly down another time and we can do JQ3 or something, to get your fill ;)

I’ve never been in the J lounge when doing JQ35 so it’s possible everyone else on that plane could be down there :p

That, or they think they can buy duty free…

It's a bugger the flights are all booked.

I will make sure I book earlier the next time.

I should have at least booked that one first.

I am not sure if I have to go to SYD on either Friday or Monday for work so was seeing what was happening.

You could always pay for Business Class

Never seen a JQ35 sold out before, that's crazy ... would dislike you post if there were such a button :(

Just a hypothetical regarding JQ35 in J. As you can't seem to book a JASA on JQ directly into J as the J column says "N/A" not "no seats" even when the whole J cabin is unsold, what would happen if you booked a JASA on QF8 or QF501 connecting with QF435 then rang up QF to change on to JQ35?

When I checked a couple of weeks ago JQ had sold zero seats in J so maybe it seems weird there's only 4 seats left. I would have thought that there would be a lot of joining pax in MEL going to DPS which would free up the SYD/MEL sector however I wonder if there is another JQi flight that terminates in SYD so MEL connecting pax are booked onto the JQ35 sector.

Extremely frustrating because you can bet that a) there's pax who were originally booked on JQ501 who won't realise that the new flight ops from the int terminal so will probably rock up at T2 30-45 mins before departure when it's too late to get around to the int term & b) pax who were always booked on JQ35 who still don't realise it departs from the int term.

Wonder what the average no show factor is for JQ35 on SYD/MEL sector?

What about setting some flight alerts with E/F should any seats become available?

I noticed when selecting JQ35 today there’s a big box that says it departs from the international terminal and you need to click a little tick-box to continue. If someone missed that… they deserve to miss the flight. It’s not hidden.

That said, it’s always seemed very busy when we’ve been on it. So I’m not sure many actually miss the flight.

J* web site shows J cabin almost empty.
Shows 4 seats booked.
All in the last row that does not have middle seats.
That looks strange or are these J* staff occupied seats on the way to the tennis?

You'd be surprised how many people tick boxes without reading what they're ticking. Also sometimes other people other than the pax do the booking & don't pass on the info.

Not sure whether the same pop up box appears on QF website as I don't remember ticking that box when I did the JASA booking. Stacks of people turn up at the domestic terminal for QF8 if that's any indication. It's only picked up when they try to checkin at a kiosk & they're referred to the service desk.

Some people who do OLCI don't find out until much later as they successfully OLCI & get a boarding pass for QF8 & as they're not checking in bags, go straight upstairs to the departure gates then approach staff asked what gate QF8 boards from. Others just try to board QF507 which departs the same time & don't realise what flight they're on until their boarding pass gets rejected at the gate reader!

J* web site shows J cabin almost empty. Shows 4 seats booked. All in the last row that does not have middle seats. That is strange or are these crew seats?

Careful - this could simply mean that there are 26 pax booked but only 4 of those pax have done seat selection. There could be 22 other pax booked who have not yet done their seat allocation. I might call JQ to find out as they don't seem to mind telling you the loadings. :p

Never been on a JQ A330 so don't know the layout of the J cabin. :(

Looking at availability on QF website for JASA's SYD/MEL on Sat 28 Jan & there is still availability showing for QF401, QF405, QF409, QF415 & QF465 for the minimum amount ie Business Column will say 22,513 points which can be reduced to 16,000 points plus cash of $65.57 using the slider.

For the people who have missed out on booking JQ35, why not grab one of these seats then ring up QF & ask them to rebook you on JQ35 instead?

If they won't do it, the fare is fully refundable so you can just put it in for refund & get all the points back.

Layout is 2-3-2 in J, except for row 1 which is 2-2-2 (making 2D a very good seat for long-legged types).

People here have been able to cancel JASAs by calling QF without needing to pay phone assistance fees? (including non-WP elites?) I know usually you need to call to cancel JASAs, otherwise you'll get a pithy amount if you do it via the online portal.

On top of that, I think credit card fees aren't refunded, so a compulsory 'wager' of $7.70 will apply.
