My Liver doesn't ...

I'll be finishing up breakfast in the MEL JL at that time preparing for my 8am flight up.

I contemplated the 8am flight but could bear to get up so early for the train/bus so opted for a more civilised 9am instead!

I'm in!

I've booked my first YASA:

PER-SYD 27/1 QF568 (depart 11.05pm, arrive 6.20am)
SYD-MEL 28/1 JQ35

I'll return to PER that night.

I'll be travelling solo so all my guest spots are open.

Thank you to those who have sent PMs with offers of 'help'.

Booked!

Arriving in T2 at about 8:30 am. JQ35 on a separate booking. Will be seeking a reprint for my JQ BP. All help gratefully accepted with this. Do I just do JQ OLCI and go from there?

Given my daughter's birthday the next day and the threat of a sleep over party, it is just a day trip for me, flying from MEL at about 17:30.

1 Guest spot available if required.

Just a reminder that after obtaining your JQ boarding pass for JQ35, just in case the checkin agent is unfamiliar with the process ;) once he/she has put the orange "D" sticker on the boarding pass there are 3 lines on the sticker to be filled out.

Top line: write either "P/P" or "D/L" depending on whether your photo ID is a passport or a driver's licence
Middle line: document no. eg L1234567 or 1234567 NT
Bottom line: your signature

Remember to keep this boarding pass with you as it must be surrendered to customs on arrival in MEL so avoid putting it somewhere you might forget it eg seat pocket.

Also to attempt OLCI with JQ (although you will only be able to print the sheet of paper that says something along the lines of "this is not a boarding pass" because it's an intl flight) you need your JQ booking reference with you will obviously have if you made the booking direct via the JQ website.

For those who booked the JQ35 flight via the QF website either on its own or in conjunction with a real QF flight actually operated by Qantas pilots, call QF & ask them to give you the "JQ confo number" which will appear somewhere in the QF pnr.

This reminds me of one of the funniest conversations I've ever overheard. Got off the plane in Melbourne, heading for immigration. A young lad (18-20) was heading for the the counter and there was an immigration official saying "please have your boarding passes ready". The lad says "mine got ripped" and hands her a handful of confetti. Anyone remember that game you used to play with minty wrapper where you'd tear the wrapper starting at the outside corner to try and make the longest "snake" possible? Well that's what it looked like he had done with his boarding pass, D sticker and all!. Immigration official's deadpan response was "well you can't enter the country without it". The look on the lad's face was priceless, but I didn't hang around to see how it all panned out.

I remember that! Good fun, perhaps I should try it some time.

maybe we should print an extra one and at the moment when the officer looks shocked give him the good one...

Meeting for lunch in SYD the Dinner in Melbourne.I think the idea (for those in SYD) is meet up at SYD T2 before 10am (perhaps) to get BP's and head off to T1.

The flight departs at 2pm, so T1 check-in counters won't open until 11am.

Use Flounge until boarding begins ~1:20pm and fly to MEL.

A dinner is to be arranged that evening as per Makis10's OP.

Just to confirm, we can go to T2 early and get BP's printed so we can go to T1 early?

I'm now booked on QF501 and JQ35. Not sure if I'll be staying in melbourne overnight or not yet.

Why not book a hotel then cancel if not required as it's the Australian Open Tennis finals that weekend so things are fairly busy.

You can get the Holiday Inn in Flinders St for 15,000 PC points plus USD60.00.

I've booked a room at the crowne plaza, good idea ta :)

Noticed the cancellation penalties for my award night at HI are pretty steep... Cancel by late Dec (a month early!) to avoid penalty. Checked online, and it says Cancel by Jan 12. (BTW, not planning on cancelling - was just checking some bookings).

Will be working in Rockvegas :(

One day I will be free to do one of these so far mythical F lounge runs, and finally meet some fellow AFFers!

Okay I'm in - going up on QF414 - send me a PM if you're on that flight and would like guesting into MEL J (if not WP).
