I'm so pi$$ed off that I have to work this w/e:evil::evil::evil:

Medhead
Whilst I was researching intl flights that fly within Oz I stumbled upon the fact that on a Tuesday you could take QF20 BNE/SYD then QF81 SYD/ADL so you could tailor a DIY kind of Flounge run at your convenience - subject as always to regulatory approval from SWMBO!
:

funny you say that. I have approval to attend on the 28th. Working on getting the whole family to attend. Maybe a Melbourne visit for my daughters birthday.

I would love to have more Brisbane time this year but Tuesday is not the best day given my need to be at work in Sydney on that day. :(

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

If you could convince them, that would make two birthdays in the F Lounge!

You may have to apologise in advance for our 'antics' :p :D Or, prepare them...

MIght have to check flight prices tomorrow.I think I just got "permission" from +1 to join in the fun ... Man, I should show this man what a Flounge looks like, huh. :p

You mean you're going to bring him along?

Besides, what do you mean, "I should show this man what a Flounge looks like". You say that as if he thinks he knows it all... ;)

LOL! I mean that thanks to my relatively-recently-minted status as a WP, he has not yet seen the inside of a FLounge in real life. Planning on flights to HNL in April, but I guess he should experience a Flounge before then. I know I didn't enjoy my first (only) SYD visit as I was distracted by having lost my camera between the plane and the lounge. And the lack of J upgrade for my upcoming flight to LAX. :p

It would be good to see you again, and useful to meet those more frequent flying than I am :p

Just saw this post after seeing a reference to this in another post. Going to take the plunge and join you fine people - this will be my first AFF event :)

I thought we had a good family holiday in Melbourne a few years ago. But the look of derision I got from my daughter after suggesting a birthday trip there suggests otherwise.

Being my first AFF event, how would one identify the AFF crew? Should I just look for a group of 14 people mingling around? Can the restaurant even handle that many people?

I have not been to one of these events either and have a couple of questions.

Is anyone welcome and how is access organised for those without access?

WP have access with one guest (travelling with them).

So non WP get paired with a WP with free spot.

If you look at the list, you'll see more WP then not:

I thought the meeting was in Melbourne but may be wrong as it appears that anchew is heading to Sydney.

What are approximate timings??

Meeting for lunch in SYD the Dinner in Melbourne.
Its been suggested that it might be appropriate to commiserate the loss of anytime access with another F lounge run on the last weekend in January (Jan 28), followed by a social evening/dinner in Melbourne! There are some pretty good positioning fares on sale from JQ and QF this morning, hopefully Tiger and DJ will follow!
I think the idea (for those in SYD) is meet up at SYD T2 before 10am (perhaps) to get BP's and head off to T1.

The flight departs at 2pm, so T1 check-in counters won't open until 11am.

Use Flounge until boarding begins ~1:20pm and fly to MEL.

A dinner is to be arranged that evening as per Makis10's OP.

Some of us will be in the F Lounge in SYD at 07:30 for breakfast ;)

We don’t usually all sit at the same table, but will move around before and after the meals to mingle. If you’ve seen some of our photos at previous lunches, or elsewhere (I have some of me on my website), then it’s easy. Sometimes we also notice lost souls and mumble "AFF" ;)

Well that’s you and me covered :p

And sometimes you will see passengers rearranging the F Lounge furniture - that's a pretty good indication ;)

I thought that only happened that one time :p

Anyway, another good indicator is if you see a giant lounging with his legs off one end of the sofas with several empty and full glasses of Champagne in front of him :) :D
