Not flying with them next month and not invited to beta test a new app. But I have received a survey invitation about digital experiences.

I received the invite about testing the app. It said I got it because I was flying within the next month. I accepted it, I fly on Friday so I hope it comes in by then.

I received the Community invitation, but Mr J didn't (both Gold). I certainly wouldn't be considered "high value" either, we usually fly a few times a year with VA (usually domestically, but internationally every couple of years), and only tend to redeem points for J upgrades.

I got the invitation to test the app as well - we flew with VA a few days ago but don't have any further flights booked until May. I don't use the app anyway, so didn't register for it.

Interesting. Despite being invited and accepting to trial the Android app, nothing more has eventuated. I'm not that worried. It's really neither here nor there to me as to whether the app works or not, but I'm thinking this whole thing (late in implementing, unexciting when they do and likely problematic just getting to the beta testing stage) is possibly just going to confirm that VA are so lost with their IT coughefight that not even Dick Smith could sell them a good enough compass to find their way out.

Hopefully I'm wrong.

I was invited and accepted to trial. So far managed to check in tomorrow's flight no issues. It displays my previous 5 flights taken.
Small glitch when initially logged in that it was not displaying current bookings or anything else for that matter but once I had selected 'Find Trip' it then displayed history and future flights.
Home page only displays miles balance and not status credit balance.
Early days but will keep persevering

Received the Android app this afternoon. Looks nice at least.

The app currently does not do anything except show your upcoming trips (and even that information is very limited). I assume it does more once you check in. I will find out this weekend.

A long way to go before it becomes actually useful from first impressions.

I will leave a few comments on the appropriate comments page and see what they say.

Anyone else receive the email from Community VA yesterday? Worth mentioning they are developing a new iOS app and it will be released 'later this year'.

Well, I had an email on 2nd March from them regarding focus groups on in-flight entertainment system experience:

As part of Virgin Australia’s commitment to improve your in-flight experience, we are looking to hear from customers just like you.

We’re looking for some of our Brisbane and Melbourne customers to come in and have a 90-minute chat to us and other Virgin Australia customers about how we can help you get the most out of your in-flight entertainment experience.

Brisbane
Kangaroo Point (River City Research Rooms)
  • Wednesday 21 March | 7:00pm-8:30pm
  • Thursday 28 March | 6:00pm-7:30pm
Melbourne
St Kilda (Viewpoint Centre)
  • Monday 26 March | 7:00pm-8:30pm
  • Tuesday 27 March | 7:00pm-8:30pm
Those who take part in the 90-minute discussion will be given $80 cash on completion of the conversation.
If you’re interested, simply click the link below to provide a some additional information and contact details.

Depending on the level of interest, you might receive a call from us in the next week or two where we will tell you more. We’re looking for around 40 customers to take part across Brisbane and Melbourne. If spots fill up this time, there will always be more opportunities to give us your feedback in the future.

Now most clever people have already picked up the error in their message (rather an important one really), so I let them know:

Are you meaning Wednesday 28th or Thursday 29th for the second Brisbane event? It’s shown below (highlighted) as well as in the questionnaire online incorrectly. Would seem to make sense for Thursday as the two Melbourne ones are on different days. If Thursday, then I’m available.

Needless to say, got the auto bot response and since then, nothing...so it makes me not want to participate

Yep. I don't know if that trial is all finished now.

The trial has finished now but the beta app still works as normal (Android at least).

It is handy for check in and for boarding. The FA struggle to find the flight number however because of the revised format.

We’re off to a good start! Thanks for helping us to get this initiative off the ground. Your input will help us measure the levels of anxiety our customers may have when flying, as well as understand how you might describe this feeling in your feedback.

Very short survey about emotions and level of anxiety during flying, then a "little game" to match aircraft images against B773, A332 and B738.

That is all of the questions for today. Thanks for taking the time to complete this study. We will leave you with this quote from Atticus:

“she was afraid of heights, but she was more afraid of never flying"

Another invitation to complete my opinion and feedback:

Thank you for all your input so far. Your opinions and feedback mean a lot to us!

Today we have a short survey to help us understand the different stages of you travel experience with Virgin Australia and identify ways we could help improve that experience for you

Q: Once you have booked your flight/s, what is your preferred format for your boarding pass?

Well there is no option for "VA Lounge" o_O so I had to put "check-in desk" as I am mostly HLO

An interesting series of questions and items that VA may be looking to implement if deemed there is sufficient need.

They told me to update my browser. I should tell them I'm the customer!

"Famed Foodie Frames" survey:-

Food for thought.
“Wise men put their trust in ideas and not in circumstances.”

While we’re constantly making changes to the food and beverages in the sky, we’re keen to recruit some eyes on the ground. We want to know what you think our guests will enjoy! Who better to tell us than you!

As a part of this process we would love for you to share photos, comments and suggestions of items you think we should introduce on board. These can be items you have seen in supermarkets, cafes, vending machines, and can be fresh or packaged.

Your input will help us assess what we currently offer and what we could offer. The sky’s the limit! Your photos and comments will be shared with our product gurus and considered in our hall of fame when we are meeting with our suppliers later this year.

Stay tuned and get a real taste for some of the behind the scenes at Virgin Australia.

Upload photo(s) and describe the item(s) in 500 words. Novel approach.
