[Confirmed Fixed - Maybe Not!] No LHR T5 Galleries access for QP before BA/QF flights

I would imagine the talks aren’t well received by BA, they’re the ones who think they can own the whole alliance, buy out partners and basically do what they like.

Assuming by 'alliance' you're referring to OneWorld then of course, that's completely irrelevant...as this has nothing to do with OW.

I would say BA can do what it likes with its own lounges and control which non OneWorld elite pax are permitted to access them.

QF seems to have signed up to a not very watertight agreement with BA with regard to business lounge access for QCs...up to them to fix it now.

You're only stating what is already obvious.

Correct, and what is also obvious is these two airlines are not as close as implied, so of course it will take time to sort. The fact that access was available previously is irrelivant.

you are very generous to qantas... I'm not sure on what basis though! we know there are several things qantas have NOT done for us... or are looking into but can't answer or action... why would we think it is BAs fault here when qantas have such a bad track record with everything else?

I was admittedly very favourable to Qantas there I guess, but it’s BA who have changed the name (and unless Qantas had the foresight to call a spade a spade in the original agreement) the ball would very much seem to be in BA’s hands.

Not many companies are ever open and public when it comes down to negotiations, so I can respect Qantas being hush hush on the subject, after all, they don’t want to upset the Lords over at BA.

I didn’t bring up OneWorld in the sense that it applied to QP memberships, but to the sense that BA does what it likes and generally doesn’t follow the rules everyone else plays by… hence this sticky situation. Though I agree with you on the contract wording being the issue most likely. It must have clearly been worded as a Terraces Lounge, which is interesting then as I doubt BA didn’t know they might change to Galleries as a namesake at some point…

I think QF are just hoping that this one will just die off and thats the end of it.

Qantas doesn't play by the rules either, the domestic J lounge comes to mind ;)

So what's an example of BA not following the rules? In fact what rules...if we're not talking about OneWorld?

They used to not properly recognise "oneWorld Ruby" (AKA Qantas Silver). Was very hard for people to get the benefits associated with that tier. However, they've now introduced it themselves, so hopefully know what it is!

I’ve had that talk with Dave too, and I’d say the same to you as I did to him, just because it’s not called an F lounge, doesn’t mean it isn’t :p

Wow, I’ve missed so much, I didn’t know that?!

Yep, they've only just added in a new tier when they relaunched as Avios to recognise OWR.

I believe that only an F rev/award ticket will get you in there, not OWE.

I don't see how it's breaking the rules. The GF is there for OWE.

It's excluded from OW rules in the same way that the Chairman's Lounge is. It's effectively by invitation only, that invitation being extended to BA F pax, high flying Gold Guest List members (similar to P1 I guess) and whoever else they choose.

To clarify the argument about access to the Concorde Room, the following access rules apply:

  • BRITISH AIRWAYS FIRST CLASS PASSENGERS + 1 GUEST ON ANY BA FLIGHT (INC UPGRADES)

  • PREMIER CARD HOLDERS & QANTAS CHAIRMAN’S LOUNGE + 2 GUESTS ON ANY BA FLIGHT

  • BRITISH AIRWAYS INBOUND FIRST (INC UPGRADES) CONNECTING ONTO ANY BA SERVICE IN ANY CABIN, SAME DAY + 1 GUEST

  • CONCORDE CARD HOLDERS, NO GUEST
Premier is the BA equivalent of the Chairmans Lounge. To get a Concorde Card you must be BAEC Gold card holder and you will be chosen by BA. As you can see from those list of rules, there is no OW benefit applicable. So if you want to get in, get an F ticket or get in the good books of BA or QF to get Premier or CL.

I'm with Sam on this - QF simply should have called it something else and then you'd have no argument.

The QP is the base lounge (aka QF Business Lounge in international terms), Sapphire gets you into the base level lounge (just as it does with other airlines.

The F lounge (international), and "Domestic Business Lounge" is the premier lounge which Emerald gets you into. Makes easy and perfect fair sense to me.

Galleries First is the Emerald lounge.

CCR is something extra that BA provide. They're perfectly entitled to it.

FWIW - I actually left the CCR after a while cause I was bored and moved to the First lounge.

What about the poor Qantas Club members that have nowhere to go at Terminal 5

and who are waiting for a decision to made.

Agree with this, it is perfectly logical. At every port (and it is only MEL, SYD, CBR and BNE) where a domestic 'Business Lounge' exists, there is also a Qantas Club, which is also a 'business lounge', just not in name, and OWS can access them. Ditto Galleries F in London - it's a 'First Class' lounge that OWEs can access. OWE does not get access to CCR - no big deal.

I have 22 months paid QP 'on hold' and anticipate I'll likely be calling on it one day, so as keen as you to see this benefit reinstated. I do agree it has dragged and dragged, but I guess some things are harder to resolve than others. Doesn't help any poor sod with a QP membership standing outside T5 Galleries lounge having just been refused access though!

I would imagine that's probably happened to quite a few poor QPs over the Xmas peak travel season.
