re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Seriously annoyed I wasted my money earlier this year to get to SG - Death Star have a sale so might do some QC visits for the next 12 mths and do a couple RTW trips to get my QFF balance to nil.

Reapply for all new CC to earn to Singapore or possibly Virgin (due to lower taxes)

Thank god for my US dividend miles 100% bonus - this just pushed me into buying the 50,000 points - would rather use AA points on Qantas flights then Qantas points.

I wonder if this thread is going to beat the ATO thread in terms of pages.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Looks like the QFFC might be getting lots of calls. I went to replicate a JASA I booked a couple of weeks ago to do comparative costings and discovered QF no longer fly to Wellington:

So to summarise, for people who don't want to read 83 pages:

- cheap ASA's can now only be booked by phone; and
- this is being reviewed by QF and cheap ASA's may be removed altogether.

The new booking engine sucks something chronic!

The word outrageous comes to mind.

and.. funny how Red Roo can chime in on good points made in these forms, not to be seen here to answer, dam poor form if you ask me.

WHERE ARE YOU RED ROO??

Be a good opportunity for the likes of VA to bring back the status match.

Why did we bother going for Platinum with Qantas this year and kill off our status with Virgin!

What is the point of earning all these points with the partners (as per the Discovery ad) if we cant use the points to enhance the flying we have to do? I don't want to use the points to purchase things from the store, I want to use them for flying experiences!

WHERE ARE YOU RED ROO??

A little bit of patience is probably in order, Red Roo is not employed to be solely a resource for AFF, I am sure the Qantas team are sitting back watching all social media to gauge what issues are needing a response and what that response will be rather than shooting from the hip and getting it possibly wrong.

I think you need to calm down a little bit here. As previously stated Red Roo doesn't have to post here and is not required to. Second, Red Roo is only a Social Media rep for the company and everything that is said needs to be approved by the powers that be.

ASAs at classic award levels CAN still be booked, albeit via the contact centre with the fee waived. This can be done at the same prices as previously done. This is for X, Z, U and P class tickets.

Also just because some members think they are the majority of the Frequent Travellers views, they are not. The amount of bookings made under the ASA system for the purpose of 'status runs' is very very minimal in the grand scheme of things.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Why does the search field say "This itinerary can only be booked using Classic Awards" ? My home page always shows this so even if I search SYD-ADL to purchase a normal fare ticket It takes me to a points redemption screen.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I don't mind the new look of the search engine. It's pretty.

ASA removal is very disappointing and was the only reason I continued to have points credited to QFF.
Which in turn, as I had QFF points available was the only reason I choose to fly them over other airliners.
Now that I won't have as many QFF points going in - the reason to fly QF has significantly decreased :(

It's a real shame to see ASA go down the drain like this.

Personally, I feel that if QF was to get a group of flyers who use ASA and say "hey guys - here's what we don't like about it for our business and this is what we want to achieve - figure it out for us", there would have been a solution that kept ASA around and made them more profitable in the process. Heck, off the top of my head I can think of a few ways to achieve this!

Given the flat out removal of them (phone bookings don't count - nobody likes doing anything via phone) my guess is someone semi-important has a personal issue with them and made them go away.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I'm prepared to give QF the benefit of the doubt for the time being.

Quite obviously there are issues with the website - legit destinations not appearing, links not working. Let see what the final outcome is points-wise once QF have sorted these issues.

Given the previous issues of only a couple of weeks ago (when the activity statements were missing for a number of days) they CLEARLY spend $minmmal on testing software prior to unleashing it on an unsuspecting Public. To my mind this is the greater sin!!

As a sidenote, have you ever heard of someone paying for domestic business class? The positive for current WPs is a likely significant increase in upgrades from Y with no-one otherwise filling those seats.
Umm - Mr FM and I do - in fact for the long weekend we went to Cairns in J and paid for Master FM and partner as well. Travelling down to SYD today and that is in Y, as crazy to pay for J for 30 minutes in the air, but for any distance quite happy to do it. I do agree that we are possibly a minority.......

I just tried to book a JASA Mel to Alice for August and they could not Find me a JASA at the same level for the whole of July and August !

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Associated web site glitches (to name just 2 that I have encountered):
Awards tab on home page points to itself when you "Click here" to search for an Award fare.
Any Seat Awards information still invites you to: "Make a booking by logging in to "Your Account", clicking on 'Award Bookings' and selecting the Award Type: 'Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award' when searching for available flights."

Fortunately I booked my last M(J)ASA a few days ago at the right price!

If your an official rep you should stand up and be counted not just choose what you want to answer because its nice or easy.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I am pleased to say I have 9000 off QFF points left, I seemed to have spent a few last night!

Hopefully another end result is the cash cost for domestic J comes down to something approaching reasonable. Did my first JASA MEL-ADL-DRW-BNE-SYD-MEL, and there's no way I'd pay the cash price for that.

I think you need to calm down a little bit here.

I guess some people are affected more so than others therefore the difference in magnitude of reactions. However, i Cant see how Red Roo posting here will make any difference. Don't think Redroo is personally responsible, nor have the ability to reverse this decision, i dont think.....

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Can't even make paid bookings at the moment, just trying to access on a Computer using Chrome and its all over the place!

Very poor.

Also I can confirm that the Multi-city engine still sucks and is worse than ever, the bigs icons and text are really hard to navigate.

For me this is one of the saddest and most disappointing 'enhancements' released by QFF ever!
