re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I am pleased to say I have 9000 off QFF points left, I seemed to have spent a few last night!

I have $170K points, pity that.

Don't think any of us are saying Red Roo is responsible at all, want him to ask those in the know, then come on here and explain why the features and the site are such an absolute mess and if they are the looking at fixing it.

Impeccable timing! Quickly sell off your 9k points to someone who hasn't read this thread :)

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Associated web site glitches (to name just 2 that I have encountered):
Awards tab on home page points to itself when you "Click here" to search for an Award fare.
Any Seat Awards information still invites you to: "Make a booking by logging in to "Your Account", clicking on 'Award Bookings' and selecting the Award Type: 'Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award' when searching for available flights."

Fortunately I booked my last M(J)ASA a few days ago at the right price!

What browser are you using - i am sure if you give enough details the reps will hand these errors over to the IT/Web design team to fix/repair.
They may have focussed their testing too much on mobile devices and not enough on the different browser systems...
I am sure if we come up with a nice list of issues the it guys will help us out... hmm maybe even shoot us over the dates of good JASA's as a good will haha

markis

Werent you one of the few that were told of the changes last night at the QF Media announcement? I am refering to post number 747 Apologies if I am wrong

Yes, and that call tempted me to cancel the bookings I had made based on data in this thread done earlier in the day, the news this morning indicating things are harder to find as far as cheap JASAs go makes me glad I did not.

Given the refundable nature of MOST JASAs I took out insurance, twice I have done it now based on members info, thanks to those members! It really was a no brainer for me despite not having a DSC offer.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I think you need to calm down a little bit here. As previously stated Red Roo doesn't have to post here and is not required to. Second, Red Roo is only a Social Media rep for the company and everything that is said needs to be approved by the powers that be.

ASAs at classic award levels CAN still be booked, albeit via the contact centre with the fee waived. This can be done at the same prices as previously done. This is for X, Z, U and P class tickets.

Also just because some members think they are the majority of the Frequent Travellers views, they are not. The amount of bookings made under the ASA system for the purpose of 'status runs' is very very minimal in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks for the gratuitous comments.

Red Roo has been happy to be here a lot in the past weeks, but when its been shown we've been b-s'ed to, or when there's no sweeties to be handed out, he/she is missing in action. Fair weather friend.

Well, let the 'powers that be' approve this:

Red Roo: "On behalf of Qantas I would like to apologise for the screwed up web site, the changes to ASAs that make then less attractive and convenient, and for generally wasting everyone's time here in trying to make out that everything would be OK."

Personally I don't give a rats if Red Roo ever shows up again.

BTW - I've just been onto the Plat call centre, because the 'Award' links aren't working (yes, have done cache, have re-booted etc). Nice lady there assured me that there was NO change to site functionality re booking JASAs. Really, I said? Lot of comment etc that there was. No, absolutely no change I was told again.

I asked to be transferred to supervisor, who seemed vaguely aware that there had been a change to the web site, and said she'd pass my 'feedback' re site functionality on. She didn't know about any changes to ASAs.

I encourage everyone to call the call centre and ask about ASAs.

Sorry Markis but your post indicated to me that you had used the information from last nights briefing and made use of it to purchase cheap ASA's. I take it that was not the case based on your comments above .

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I know I am being selfish, but from my reading here it is not an unusual way to view things ...

Making marginal ASAs less visible may mean that there are more premium cabin classic award flights available for me to book using my AA miles (which often require significantly less points and $$$ than people redeeming JASA previously). Sure I don't earn QFF status credits or AA EQP/EQM for them, but if there is improved availability for me then I am happy :p

My post was indicating I was glad I made the bookings yesterday given there was nothing to lose, the information under Embargo was no different to what you reported yesterday (apart from the value and availability not changing) as being from the call centre and no different to the post that indicated info from a staff memo.

With that in mind, those that had intended to book at least a domestic JASA would surely have done so yesterday????

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

<snip>

Thank you to Red Roo and the team for the briefing yesterday, the engagement with AFF is as always most appreciated.

My key takeaway, the best value is not yet gone, (but will be going I suspect), and is now harder to get, get them while you can!

Sorry? Just noticed this.

Did some here get a briefing about the changes yesterday?

If so - lucky blighters. But why?

markis 10 - can you please let us know what the nature of the briefing / heads up was - a call, e-mail etc etc. And who here was in on it, please?

Not saying there was anything wrong on your / their part, but I'd like to know if QF is trying to manipulate QFF by grooming some 'leaders / moderators'. If not, why the briefing?

Umm, the info is in the post you quoted and essentially was a formal version of info already provided in the thread from numerous sources including the call centre.

On the positive side, does seem to be greater availability of CX flights showing as Classics.

The was a resurfacing of the rumour with more substantiated information yesterday before the media briefing and I would expect a number of people may have been in your position having monitored this thread from the start and being privy to the media briefing.
I know I was monitoring the facebook conversation early in the afternoon and I would expect that most people went ahead and booked before 4pm knowing that they could cancel should they wish.
For your sake I am glad that you did not cancel the tickets.
I only with I had of booked some yesterday - but I didn't have enough points for the trip I wanted to take... well now I am much further away.
But while I can call to book them I will do so.
Once they are gone completely I might have a little sulk for a few days about missing out even though being forewarned :(

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Perth to Melbourne one way in business is 123,800 points or $999.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Thanks OP for the heads up. I appreciate it! I booked a fully refundable JASA Syd-Bne-Tsv for June 2014 just in case....
This costs me 48000 points and $349.08 (was only $264.74 three months ago!) yesterday. Today, the exact same itinerary costs 48000 points and $1102....not happy QF!!:evil::evil:

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Lucky I decided on a last minute JASA akl-lax

Could be the end of me keeping gold

Is that the price when you ring for the "marginal" availability?

Has it been confirmed that the fee will be waived.

I'm not necessarily suggesting any impropriety but perhaps the key point is you had the information confirmed directly by Qantas.

I'm also trying to work out how we reconcile "last night" with "earlier in the day".
