re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Which JASAs have zero refund fees.
From memory this was only ex-overseas ports?

The JASA I booked a few weeks ago (MEL-WLG-MEL) was fully refunded on cancellation - if that's what you mean by "zero refund fees".

Regards,

BD

You can now book classic awards inside 24 hours now.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

As for the new booking rubbish, the font is WAY TOO BIG and everything is way too spaced out

I don't want to scroll down 4 pages to see all my options

Not a fan of all this "simplified" fonts and making everything suited to Gen Y/Gen ME

It almost makes the Virgin website look better

As for the pretty much guaranteed removal of FASA/JASA if QF has such an issue with it (and it seems that they do) then simply make LESS inventory available

You could pretty much book MEL-SYD-ASP-SYD-MEL for the majority of days. So instead of that just have a few flights per week/month there

Thank you for all your private messages and also the posts on here it is greatly appreciated. The original intention right from the beginning for this thread was to give a heads up to what QF were doing. The original dates of when it was meant to happen were all correct. Due to IT issues there delays so it may have looked like this was a deceptive thread meant to inflame members and mislead.

It surprised me that a number of IT people on here didn't grasp the concept of a delayed implementation

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

The "marginal ASA" as they like to call it is here to soften the blow when they will be removed completely in around 3 months time. After this date the P U Z X inventory will be used exclusively for classic awards. You will still have the option of using points to pay for fares based on normal commercial inventory. So my final advice is if you need to book the marginal seats, search for the classic award first then once you have the flights phone up ask it to be booked as "marginal ASA" but please note as already noted by other posters the rates for part cash has gone up quite a lot from today. This will stay in place for about 3 months then they will be gone forever - well that's the info I have today. It could change.
.

I'll modify that to 3 months after they inform members that the T&Cs are being varied to remove ASA.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

This is where some clarification from Red Roo would be good..

Also I have not received any information from Qantas about these changes which is very poor on Qantas behalf. Or is it QF practice to keep FF in the dark?

Maybe one of the Qantas operators you spoke to yesterday confirming changes made a note on your file that you were updated?

Ok

Have spoken to a second person and what is happening is that you will search for the destination and it will display the cash price. You can then click another button and on display will be the Classic Award rate and the ASA rate.

You can earn SC on the ASA but not Classic.

You can use points and reduce the amount by a cash component as per current ASA.

The operator went to great pains to explain that ASA's are NOT going youm will just be searching in a different manner.

Again if you want just reward seats then you click a button so that it searches only for rewards seats.

I asked if the prices of ASA or Classics were increasing and a very strong NO was the reply.

So lets see what happens I am beginning to think that this may well be a good thing :D

Well considering they are the future generation of spenders and travellers, seems okay then.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Umm, the info is in the post you quoted and essentially was a formal version of info already provided in the thread from numerous sources including the call centre.

Yes, but I was being curious about that briefing you and possibly others from AFF received, not the thread or call centre info.

Could you share if there was any additional info given in that briefing, and who else here received the briefing, please?

Again, I'm not implying anything untoward on your part (I'm mainly jealous), but I do think we need to know how QF is interacting with the forum, and why they apparently are being selective.

I can't see any reason for a selective briefing, except to curry favour with moderators and "opinion leaders". I know mods etc do have a good relationship with WF, and that's to our advantage, but I don't see how the forum is advantaged by a selective briefing where the info can't be directly passed on.

If people here, or Joe Public want to ferret out info and share, that's great. But I'm not that keen on QF selectively briefing people here, where the info is embargoed until public sources are also available. What's the point of that except to play favourites?

Perhaps the moderators can reply as a collective: are you comfortable with being favoured with information by QF where you can't share the favour with regular members?

Yeh but those people are people that mainly troll on here and are never wrong.. Because they didn't' end on the first date they just kept jumping up and down.

Due to IT issues there delays so it may have looked like this was a deceptive thread meant to inflame members and mislead.

All I would recommend is when you get messages from QF saying "ASA are absolutely here to stay" when they denied that should ring alarm bells. Also when the official company spokesperson stays completely silent on such a massive post/thread that's another clue.

The "marginal ASA" as they like to call it is here to soften the blow when they will be removed completely in around 3 months time. Thanks again and all the best to everyone.

Once again THANK YOUand again ignore those who just try to elicit a response by trolling

As for what Joycey told a few people on here as I said - Who cares - He would not know/care about ASA's so a few members trying to say I spoke to the boss and he said they are here to stay is just LOL material

The biggest sign was the fact that Red Roo has not posted in here.....

That post has all the info that was talked about, AFAIK the only info not already in the public domain was the fact the better value ASAs where under review and even had their own name!

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Well considering they are the future generation of spenders and travellers, seems okay then.

Yet I never see them on a Qantas flight, they are on Jetstar waiting by the gate on their iPads with Beats by DRE headphones

Versus considering that demographically the baby boomers and gen X are the current biggest chunk of the population.

Perhaps they have BUT has anyone else received any information from QF as to what is happening SURELY any good marketing company would advise its market of what they say is such a GOOD change to its website making things easier.

So how many of you have an email about the changes from Qantas ???

Markis you seem very defensive towards QF today?

Thanks for updating us:thumbup: QF, not unexpectedly, are not telling us the full story...

C'mon, don't need a blue with you on this - QFF is subject; but would you like to address the main issue I'm querying (recognising that you have no obligation to do so :) )?.

My inquiry is mainly about the selectivity of the briefing yesterday. Who got it within this forum and are moderators comfortable with certain favoured people (?them??) getting a heads up - including, it seems, info not otherwise available at the time when they are forbidden to pass that info into the forum? If they can't pass on the briefing info, what do they think the point of the briefing was, other than to curry favour with them? I'm happy to hear any other possibilities.

No different to the free trip to Dubai really...... then the sudden recommendation of Dubai, Qantas and Qantas related activities in Dubai

I have received no information whatsoever and while I may only be silver, I believe that Qantas should be letting ALL it's frequent flyers know of any program changes. I think it's a little like wearing rose tinted glasses to think that someone making an enquiry to the call centre, means that a note was made on the file so they didn't need to get an email.

I'm not sure what is going on here today but I don't like it. There are things that seem a little too dodgy or convenient but that is all I am saying.

News today that classics have lost their 24 hour restriction is something I would say thanks for, other than that there is really nothing lost that has been confirmed, other than the fact the best value ASAs now require a phone call. I think the jury is still out on the changes in the cash component, something that yesterday was categorically stated as not happening.

If anything, I am defensive of our members who put the info in the public domain some three months ago that changes were afoot, despite the obvious risk to their jobs, I know a lot of our members made bookings as insurance over that period to cover themselves - good common sense.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Should have retained QF platinum before VA platinum..

Now it's my employer that suffers as I'll have to book flexi fares on indirect routes!
