re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April
They can all be reduced to the same points cost as classic awards (not true now but I'll get to that). Just the dollar cost is higher because the they have a higher starting points cost. eg a BNE-SYD marginal JASA used to start at ~27000 points reducible to 16000 (?). Now the start point will be 35000 or 43000 or whatever. So we'll be paying for 0.8/0.9 cents per point for an extra 10/15/20 thousand points.
On to that difference. The new website booking system actually lets you drop the points down to 5000 points. Which is a big part of why I say these are not ASAs. Because the clear distinction in the past was points plus pay had a base of 5000 points whereas ASA had a base at the classic award level.
If Marginal ASA's represent the "cheapest" ASAs available - in theory equivalent to a Classic reward.. By what factor are the next level of ASA's?
So for example if a Marginal ASA fare for a trip is say 30,000pts, then what is the next ASA level? 45,000 points? 33,000pts?
