HA HA HA! "QF ... speak on their own behalf"? Anyone seen Red Roo lately?

Aw, come on. You're killing me

To be honest with you Red Roo was on here today...
I have said it before and will say it again but I think your targeting of the rep on here is below the belt.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Exactly, it's stupid. How can you have one stopover in each direct but not be allowed a stopover at one end. I'll have to find the exact wording tomorrow, when back on a computer.
Looks like there have been a couple of changes ex-SIN that I can see at first glance. The user interface is shocking. I hope it is just teething issues.

Domestic stopovers are priced differently to before. Not a big deal. I will book those separately.

Very restrictive on having international/domestic connections on outbound sectors. A little bit better, but not much, on domestic/international connections on inbound sectors.

Was here once. And then logged off.

If anything, I'm "targeting" Qantas, particularly its web site changes and presentation / functionality; also disclosure here. If you think Red Roo is anything but Qantas's official rep on this forum, well, OK.

Correction: I see Red Roo has logged back on. Welcome back! Any help in the offing with the myriad of questions the web site enhancement has brought about?

Any apologies in the offing for the web site shemozzle?

..... <crickets> ...

I think you are confusing their ability to speak on their own behalf with their desire to. Red Roo isn't not posting because he is suddenly struck down with any inability to do so, he just doesn't want to at this stage until they get their corporate message correct. Regardless I still feel they won't be feeling any need or desire for you to speak on their behalf.

Why wasn't it already correct? Surely they knew before today about the changes............. of course they knew about the changes, they made them!

Actually Red roo is watching now.
I wont change my FF programs.I am sticking with aadvantage.;)
However there are very few FF programs that have the equivalents of xASAs so rather than complaints be thankful with what we have received in the last couple of years.
The only JASAs that are important to us are the BNE-SYD-BNE sectors when mrsdrron is just short of requalifying. Those should still be bookable by phone so we are not affected as much as some.
However instead of valuing QFF points at 2-3 cents each they will now be enhanced to 2 cents value. This means Woollies will have less loyalty.QF though probably wont get less bookings from us.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

i have only just caught up with with the end of this tread as I've been travelling. wanted to say a couple of things.

first off... Red Roo is qantas. they are one and the same... legally qantas is vicariously liable for all actions of any red roos (not that it matters in this context however).

the social media team is obviously facing some challenges:

  • the black face incident
  • the qantas 'luxury' campaign
  • officially endorsing (and I'll say this again) that qantas agrees some of its own members (passengers) are 'idiots' for not understanding the qantas frequent flyer program
  • the need to constantly put a positive spin on an issue (the qantas scam email thread included a reply by the qantas team that in some cases 'imitation can be considered flattery'. this is obviously an incorrect use of the expression given the context, but it reflects the maturity of the team trying to employ it)
  • postings that don't answer any question or provide useful advice
  • failure to follow up on issues at strategic level

personally I think we have had too many situations where we have been given inaccurate information by a red roo.

i think we need a single red roo, in a position of seniority, who can manage the AFF account with credibility and authority.

I would much rather have an informed source posting once a day rather than 20 posts congratulating qantas on another of its members reaching gold status and how wonderful it is (or for that matter another post giving qantas' reservations or customer care number).

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I am trying to check the points for MEL-SYD on an ASA by clicking on the link and it says "only available as Classic"....surely not....surely don't have to ring up for this...??? If so it is utter madness and will result in a lot of angry people...staff sick of quoting myriad combinations, FF's not able to ring 9-5 and FF's who can't even get through the switch.

What is the bet that within a month VELOCITY comes out with an upgraded FF program or status match to pinch the FF's putting lots of points into their account. Whether or not the points are made through flying or credit cards QANTAS still make a profit. Why alienate what surely must be a profitable section of their profitable FF program.

The plane only holds so many people and whether they sit up the front or up the back they weigh the same. If ASA's keep the front full, surely it all goes onto QANTAS's bottom line. ?

Ah! You are channelling Red Roo! What else is Red Roo doing /wanting /thinking?

I wonder how long it will take QF to get the "corporate message correct"?

'Sorry folks, we had no idea about those changes to our web site. Give us a few days to figure out what's happened and we'll get back to you."

or

'Web site? What web site? Changes you say? Curse you John Borghetti!'

Oops. There I go again, speaking on their behalf. Sorry. .

From what I've read and seen there is very facebook style interaction with the AFF audience (and qantas aren't the only ones guilty of that on AFF ... or for that matter FT). However, when it comes to all things relating to travel and frequent flyer schemes, the AFF crowd is generally more sophisticated than the facebook crowd, so do expect a different sort of engagement by company reps.

Agree 100%....this thread highlights (to me anyway) that not everything posted by the persons posting under the pseudonym, Red Roo, is the whole truth....

Totally AGREE

For those who have used xASA:

Will you be reassessing which FF program you credit your flying/credit card points from now?
I don't think much will change for us - i like qf. We tend to pay for overseas trips and then used the points for domestic JASAs. We have quite considerable CC spend which goes to QF and I don't see that changing either. There is no way I am wasting my time on the phone, so will use points for classic awards in future. I would only move from QF on a value proposition I.e. if someone is giving me better service for the same/lower price.

We obtained WP last year and will retain it this year and JASAs/dSC not needed for that. That may not be true in future years, but I don't mind dropping back to SG. Platinum is of pretty marginal benefit given we usually pay for F/J anyway.

Mr FM always maintained that JASAs were an incredible lurk and in my experience once lurks become widely used they disappear. Although we are all disappointed, I don't think QF can be blamed for making a business decision. Implementation might be another issue - they always seem a bit ham handed in how they approach things....

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

So Any Seat awards are staying but the real cheap ones need to be booked over the phone. So people still have the option of attaining status the cheap way.

Now that website changes are a concern. The user interface is horrible.

I just submitted my feedback to QF. Disappointed is an understatement!!!

They could learn from looking at BA and their interaction on FT thru the BAEC thread.

As a newbie posting a question on FT - I was guided to Nicki (their RedRoo) and the problem was sorted on the spot.

Unfortunately, my experience here is nothing like what I received over on FT. Can't even get RedRoo to respond to a PM......which has nothing to do with the topic of JASA.

On larger issues though, it's must the same. Take the recent catering fiasco.

Agree completly. I flew CBR to HBA return last weekend on a ASA. All sectors except one 50% load at front of plane.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

If Marginal ASA's represent the "cheapest" ASAs available - in theory equivalent to a Classic reward.. By what factor are the next level of ASA's?

So for example if a Marginal ASA fare for a trip is say 30,000pts, then what is the next ASA level? 45,000 points? 33,000pts?

I haven't got a clue what they are thinking, which is exactly why I think we should let them speak for themselves. Or perhaps let their lack of reply speak for itself as currently.
