re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

When these rumours crop up, it would be nice for someone from QF to jump on them before they turn into a "QF is ditching all awards" thread.

Unless, of course, their silence speaks for itself.

In their defence, this was only posted late this afternoon, and unlike us the social media team doesn't live on here! I'd hope there might be a reply tomorrow.

Good rumour......timeline is not that far away, so might be true. Is it too early for April Fools Day?

TBH as someone booking family trips ASA have meant bugger all to me. The only negative I can see - more competition for classic awards:(

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I think it's fairly common for companies to put rumours out there to see how people respond.

Has anyone booked an ASA as a result of reading this thread?

I find it amusing that everyone is going to dump Qantas... We go over to the Virgin page, and they are all ditching them as well..... Back on the Bus !!!! LOL

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Qantas changing the cost of ASAs is not a breach of the T&Cs, as they do it all the time. I would suggest those with plans to do a JASA or two may wish to do some early booking, I also expect we will have a general double SC campaign launch in the next few weeks, most likely just after Easter, I can see a flurry of activity late next week if that happens.

Nothing worse than falling victim to "I told you so", especially when many JASAs are fully refundable (at least domestically).
Wise words:)

It might be time to book up some planned JASAs just in case. It can always be cancelled and fully refunded.

Yes, I have:idea: I was planning a domestic JASA in August to help maintain QF WP but was waiting to see if I got the double SC again (unlikely tho, as I got one the last 2 years), so I have now gone ahead and booked it tonight after reading this thread. The beauty is :
Cancellations (including no show): Fare is fully refundable.
so I can always cancel later if things change. If the OP claim turns out correct, well.....

Not me....;) Well, not for this reason anyway.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you QFF, Simple...! you already handed over my international loyalty to SQ with your QF81 & QF82 stunt... Can I suggest this suggested rumour would totally obliviate any remaining loyalty I have to you and it would be a very bad "enhancement" for your customers, Financial institutions, credit card providers, Woolworths, insurance companies, restaurants, liquor outlets, car hire companies.... the list is quite large who would be affected by this...many would show less interest in the program after this change. Nobody at Q could be so foolish...could they...? Really...? They did ground the entire fleet once, so I guess anything is possible

Attn Qantas reps, please wander over to the Westpac threads and look what happens when you attempt to "enhance" a product with a little or no PR effort, result is much angst within the heard...

If this little thread has some truth then burning "enhancements" would be a disaster for QFF and a clear shot across the bow for all...

got a source for this or is it just pure speculation...

Can hear the complaints already, dilution of higher tier benefits...

Perhaps this is just some clever ploy by QF to divest us informed users of our valuable points?

resistance is futile...?

Its called experience, the general double SC campaign has appeared for quite a few years now after Easter, given competition is hardly reduced, I don't see the pattern changing! A quick check of threads dating back to 2008 at least shows the pattern!

My first double SC was in 2001, it's hardly a new marketing tool.

If this rumour is to be correct, then the QFF program has been positively "enhanced" to our detriments.
Only a rumour at this stage and clearly not the end of the world.

One way to think of it is that Any Seat awards have been extremely generous until now and as with everything in business if something is popular and cheap then the business may want to increase the price.

No different to KUPPs/YUPPs in the USA or CX I class airfares in Asia or even the FJ NAN runs.

In fairness, why should QF be obliged to respond to every scaremonger who tried to wind us up ?? The emphasis should always be on telling the person making the claim to 'put up or shut up' .....

If this is true, they are signing the death warrant for QFF.

While I wouldn't be so extremist, it'll cost a little bit more to retain WP for me without ASA's as they currently are... and hitting my LTS/LTG goals will become much harder. Also my wacky idea for P1 is pretty much out the window. While none of that makes any poor financial sense to QF in keeping it, I'd be a little disappointed.

So now to wait and see...

I don't know about your wacky idea for Platinum One but I have suggested to Qantas that vanilla Platinum is way too easy to attain and the meaning of Platinum status continues to be devalued.

I would rather see Platinum qualification at 2,100 SCs with 1,800 SCs requalifying and even stricter number of flights criteria and I will continue to make that suggestion to them in the hope that benefits are retained rather than devalued.

I could still hit that. All my flights are Qantas!

I think lifetime should be limited to just Qantas flights, perhaps even all status. It would certainly take care of those doing SC runs on CX ;) devaluing the program with cheap SC's :p

There is a whole lot more devaluing going on with double SCs offers and ridiculously cheap any seat awards.

The CX SCs are not cheap, not when you consider someone could earn 1,000 SCs for ~USD1,000 or less on KUPPs. Or is it a couple of hundred dollars on domestic any seat awards using points that cost nothing?

Everyone's view on SC earn is different but all I see is continued devaluing in the benefits for Platinum and if the only way not to lose any further benefits is to increase qualification/requalification levels then I am all for it.

I'll agree with you on the US-runners ;)

OK - then no benefits on partner airlines. QF should leave Oneworld and die in splendid isolation!
