I didn;'t realise that only 10 of the "clippers"were built and only 8 into commercial service.Though coming onto the market in 1938 probably didn't help-

I heartily recommend a visit.Thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

I feel inspired to visit NY again. I went in autumn last time. I'm thinking spring looks so much more inviting.
Thanks for the great tips and ideas.

This post is about dogs.Well not actually it is about our US flights but dogs figure prominently. It all started on our flight from DFW-LGA when the couple in 4A,C which were originally assigned to us brought on a very large carryon and 2 smaller unusually shaped carryons.Turns out there was a dog in each. These were certainly not service dogs and their behaviour in the LGA terminal suggested they were definitely family pets.

Several dogs wandering the terminal at least one boarding our flight. Again lots of dogs wandering the terminal with their owners.Only 1 that definitely was a service dog.Americans really like pushing the boundaries.
not pushing the boundaries - you can legitimately take pets in the cabin in the USA. They have to be in a carrier which can fit under the seat in front and they have to stay there. There are separate rules for pets and service dogs. If I remember correctly, you can take dogs, cats and even rabbits, I once had a chat to a lady who was taking her dog through security - she had to take it out the carrier, the carrier went through the screening machine and she carried the dog through.

Though 1 dog seen in DFW was a "lassie"" look alike.Doubt it would have fitted under the seat in front.

don't know- maybe that was a service dog! I checked at a United website and you can definitely take cats, dogs, rabbits and even birds in the cabin!

In another post which of course I can't find now I reported that the guy in J next to me on an AA domestic flight had a dog that absolutely would not fit under the seat in front - it was at least Lassie size and spent most of the trip sprawled between his lap and chest (unrestrained, including during take-off), or lying at his feet, or on one occasion, wandering down the aisle! No indications of being a service dog but who knows.

But if we hit sudden severe turbulence that would have been 20+ kilos of fur and claws airborne in the cabin.

Some airlines have different rules - but with AA, IIRC, if a dog won't fit into a carrier in front of the PAX it needs to be a Service dog (e.g. "Emotional Support Animal) to be carried in the cabin.

It can be a touchy subject, see here from FT: Fake Service Dogs!

The "Tasting menu" for QF11 is a series of items from the menu. If not offered it can be requested.
Possibly is the same but it has now been developed into a major display by itself-
Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center | National Air and Space Museum
I have read this with interest as I will be in IAD Sunday week and am planning on a morning visit.

Given that airlines generally don't serve peanuts on flights where people with airborne allergies are on board, how are they going to manage dogs onboard for those who immediately develop wheezing when with a dog in an enclosed space? aka - MrP?

I am waiting to see pix of Mrsdrron's purchases on 5th Avenue. ;)

I didn't do any damage to the CC on 5th Ave, but I did get a nice Armani blouse, and I should have bought a nice grey leather big bag that would be great for travelling, it would match my grey leather Armani handbag, I can only put it down to the fact that I had a cold then and must have been febrile

I drove back to the mall to pick up mrsdrron. We had agreed to meet outside Legal Seafoods.I walked the mall and no Legal Seafoods so went right back to the Information Centre-Legal seafoods was in the other mall a mile away.Fortunately no sooner had I found this out mrsdrron walks up so off to the other mall for dinner at Legal Seafoods.Used to like this chain but just didn't come up to previous standards. One problem was mrsdrron ordered muscles with white wine and garlic and it came with chilli,I ordered N'Orleans style and it was bland.? a mix up.
So that night in Tysons Corner they put on a show for us-

So in the morning it was off to Wilmington Delaware via Annapolis so as to avoid Baltimore.Only visited 1 Outlet Mall.Arrived early at the Sheraton Wilminton South and scored a suite upgrade-

Now the reason we were in Delaware was it is a tax free state. So visited a few favourite stores.Unfortunately going back to the hotel the road was closed due to an accident. It was the only access from the north so drove around in circles before finding the access road from the south. So had dinner in the hotel. As the lounge was closed for memorial day we got our appetisers free.We also got brekkie in the restaurant.Food was typical US diner quality, service slow.
Even though the hotel is right on I-95 and you can hear road noise I slept well.

So the next day we were off to King of Prussia just north of Philly and home to one of the larger malls in the USA.On the way though we detoured to Longwood Gardens. We have been a few times as our son lived in Philly for 2 years. So a few photos-

I know ! SO unlike me :D as I have a black belt in shopping ! I still have the cough and sneezes. I just hope Armani are still selling the bag when we are back in the US in September, I wont make the same mistake twice. I have actually bought more for Ron than me at this stage of the trip !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First I can assure everyone mrsdrron will never join me in the gym.She knows that mall walking is all the exercise you ever need.
Second it is only right that I have money spent on me from time to time. After all I do keep working so that mrsdrron can continue the life to which she has become accustomed.

Now back to the TR.There are all sorts of plants at Longwood Gardens.A reasonable display of Bonsai-
