Indeed, I get the impression Aussies are too busy emptying supermarket shelves to go on holiday!
cheers skip

Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

I think it is more that hand sanitiser has a run on.

Easter eggs don’t go off and all
The shops seem to have plenty of those.
That’s what I’m stocking up on, then a quick trip to Uncle Dan’s, and I’m good to stay home with Netflix once I get a sniffle.
(Don’t want to be named and shamed by Jenny Mikakos for turning up to my hospital job slightly unwell).

The definitely do go off having worked with the largest confectionary company in the world.

The normal cough confectionary chocolate you see in supermarkets is actually horrifyingly old already by the time it gets to you. I would love people to support local smaller, local (real) chocolate makers more not multinational confectionary producers :)

I agree with you 100% on Ms Mikakos poorly thought out comments. She might actually be sued for defamation by the doctor involved, he has asked for a formal apology.

Doctors should be funded by Medicare to provide Telehealth for ALL - the Federal Government needs to stop their hand wringing and just do it.

Hubby went to store to pick up fruit and veggies and said there was no toilet papper or paper towels or tissues.

For work or toilet paper? Work - whatever - I'm not involved in those projects anyway. Toilet paper - I have 8 rolls I'll be fine
I have some. Going cheap. Morning price. 😂

I only ever buy Haighs. Expensive so I don't buy much. Can't stand the eggs in the mainstream stores and long ago decided the calorie intake was not worth the flavour.

Most of what Haighs make is real chocolate and if it’s good quality you actually shouldn’t be able to eat much in one setting anyway!

The confectionary chocolate rubbish in supermarkets from the big brands is pumped full of so much (cheap) cough ingredients so that customers can eat a lot in one setting = more profit for the manufacturers and our giant duopoly supermarkets.

Well yes in theory re quantity of Haighs. I love their bullets. I can have a packet unopened next to me for weeks. However, as soon as I remove the seal I could do "gone in 60 seconds". I rationalise it by saying that it does my digestive system wonders. (And I don't want any medicos telling me my theory is wrong)

Yowsets. Just had a thought. If someone in the Haighs production system developed Covid they might have to shut down. Dammit. Now I'm going to have to stockpile those bullets!

Extraordinarily busy at my local Dan Murphys this morning pre-lunch - usually a modest amount of people at that hour on a Saturday. And completely out of stock of Veuve Clicquot - which is astonishing! This is an essential in Noosa just like toilet paper is to the rest of the world :)

I was surprised to find my nearest Coles was largely out of poo tickets. On the other hand, the nearest Woolworths was business as normal.

Surely any real zombie apocalypse prepper would be stocking up on ammunition.

As I posted on the other thread, our local SA Foodland had full shelves plus a pallet waiting to be unpacked with no space to put them. So, we are either highly educated non bogan people in SA or very constipated.

Yeap, there has apparently been a run on ammo in certain parts of the US.

As for our local wollies, the shelves are empty. Whilst I think we're ok for now, I don't know what we're going to do when we run out of TP.
The problem is that if they do get more in, we'll probably buy a couple of packs (where as we'd only normally get one at a time), because with so many kids we can't afford to run out. It's a vicious cause and effect type circle.

Not sure if it because we have a long weekend here aswell but went down for my daily coffee and drove past my local Woolies and there was a lineup of about 70 people a good half an hour before the store opened

Woolworths lowered the limit on toilet paper from 4 to 2.

Apparently, the Wodonga DC (supplies stores in northern VIC and Southern NSW) is running 5 hours behind on loading trucks.

Just got an email from Coles - they are lowering the limit on toilet paper to one pack - good on them

Hopefully this toilet paper scramble is over.

Just back from my local Coles and there was 2 pallets of loo paper just parked in the isle.

No attempt to re stock the shelves with customers calmly walking up and taking 1 packet from the pallet and continued shopping

The toilet paper brouhaha is a heads up for the fragility of social order in our soft and spoiled society.
It's probably going to get a lot worse….
Leads to cave man stuff .. building barriers and defending the kids and the castle as the world melts down into chaos.
A seriously savage dog is my first shopping item if and when it all starts to crumble.. police will be no help.

A seriously savage dog? So you are contributing to this ‘return to cave man stuff’....I understand people are scared and our government is botching communication up with poor messaging - but there is some really good reliable easily accessible information out there from official sources, so read that.

Proper hand hygiene ALONE reduces transmission of the flu by over 50%. 50%! And that’s before you get started on social distancing, not touching your face and the other simple advice given...

Ive become the crazy lady in my office over hand washing - Im sure some coworkers are hoping I catch it first just to shut me up but Im keep bleating about "wash your hands", "when was the last time you washed your hands?" and "you just touched elevator buttons, go wash your hands".

You cant get a Coles or Woolies delivery in my area until next Monday and slots are booking out fast.
