Indeed, I get the impression Aussies are too busy emptying supermarket shelves to go on holiday!
cheers skip

Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

I think it is more that hand sanitiser has a run on.

I cant remember, do you even have a cat?
😂. Hell, I'm not that crazy - yet. Funny thing is I've put his image on Red Bubble which is a site where people can purchase images and they can go on bags, T shirts, iPad cases etc etc. And I've made some money because people are buying his photo for cushion covers. 😂
This was a sale I made the other day!

I tried to do my normal weekly shop of Saturday and could only get about half of what I needed. Yesterday arvo i popped back into Coles as I realsied I needed some chux and an onion and there were no onions of any type in the fresh food section nor frozen. I got the last paked of 3 chux in the store.

Also noticed there were no bananas and minimal potatoes in the fresh section.

The guidline is to stock up to have 14 days food supply at home in case you need to self quarntine, well I would starve as havent been ale to get enough food for the few meals i usually eat at home in one week, let along 14 days * 3 meals. The panic buyers are locusts who have stripped shops bare.

I hope stores have security because Its going to get ugly in places, which is nuts.

I wonder how long before some bright spark rents out granny to do your shopping - it will happen because its in our nature to find work arounds.
Well will rent a poppie be good enough?
i am available on the Sunshine coast.but it will cost to get me out of bed that early. :D :)

This limitation thing. I've got the message fair and clear from medico family that its the oldies are the real risk group. And we need to be careful and avoid crowds. Today there were two nice ladies, I'd say in their 70's and they only had small bottles of hand sanitisers to buy.. Maybe 6 each. But they took them away and they could only buy 1 each. Now these ladies do really need them. No black market. They wanted to keep their hands clean and help themselves. This is wrong.

The registers will not allow items to be scanned that breach the limit.
Do you understand why limits were added, or are you just going "x example. It's not fair!!1!"?

They are in a risk group. We should be helping them to avoid getting ill. As opposed to the numpties who now have 10 years supplies of toilet paper 'just in case'. And for the record, the operator was able to scan more than one bottle but had to cancel the transaction when the next operator advised him of the limit. So clearly some registers don't know as much as you think.
I realise now I should have bought one of the bottles then given it to them. As opposed to lecturing them on hoarding, which is clearly what others may deem appropriate.

Must say, the way people here are going through hand santizer, washing just for touching a piece of paper, I want to scream at them to go use the soap and water. I have more soap in the office than sanitizer

Dont know how I ended up being the santizer police but because I started stashing it end of Jan, for the office, its now my task

Should be no need to use Sanitizer at home, soap and warm water is easier, cheaper and kinder on the hands. Sanitiser should be reserved for when you are out and about, which if an oldie this is largely discouraged atm except for grocery or pharmac_ shopping.

I have to laugh at our office, someone asked if hand soap could be put at kitchen sinks and advice was walk to bathroom to wash hands (which is useless if you then want to eat, as have to handle a door to get back into to the kitchen) or use santiser. So people are wasting tons of sanitiser which could be prevented if some soap would be provided.

I have been trying to buy toilet paper for the last week. Didn't stock up prior to this. But I am running out of my regular pack 1 roll left. Last week I went to two of my local stores 3 afternoons in a row and was told that it sold out in the middle of the day, I went at 7am on saturday and no rolls and on saturday night, same story. Today, my day off I went to 2 stores stores early this morning, nothing and now I have been back to my local and to the aldi in a few suburbs away, no toilet paper. Ugh!
I can't go early tomorrow on my way to work as I am not a pensioner, even though over 60. But then talking to a few friends they have a "stock" but are still buying extra just in case! I just want 1 pack but am feeling very frustrated now!!
And now I fear with all the latest regulations, cancellations and general warnings it is just going to get worse.

Try Officeworks.

Thing is, no one who gets this is going to poop their brains out so stop hoarding dunny paper!

Guy at work left for Nepal about 2 weeks ago so he brought his 30 pack in and it literally went to people who had none on Friday afternoon but no idea what hes going to do when he gets home and hes got 14 day isolation.

Hmmm just looked at buying at office works but says it is unavailable online.
The closest store is 25 mins away. Maybe I will ring them first.

Did the weekly shop yesterday. Basically no pasta at Coles, no loo paper, blah blah blah. Surprisingly, I haven't yet seen pads and tampons run out, and nappies seem to have been OK (but I haven't been paying close attention). The shopping centre I went to has a Coles, Woolies, and Aldi - I went there purposely in case Coles was out of anything I wanted. Had to buy a couple of things at Woolies (pumpkin - Coles was out of cut pumpkin, Woolies only had Jarrahdale and Butternut cut up - take my tip and don't roast Jarrahdale), and then I went to the independent butcher. I heard them telling another customer that the entire centre had run out of mince earlier that morning, and the butchers went through 50kg of mince in under an hour, as they were the only store with it! There were certainly limited choices at Coles, but I was able to buy some mince to put in the freezer.

I haven't gone overboard, but have been getting an extra pack of pasta and a tin of tuna here and there. I'm not super concerned, just getting a few extra things that I know we will be able to use over time, and we won't be throwing out. Also, I'm still on dinner duty after Mr Katie's shoulder surgery in January, and I want some easy meals up my sleeve for the coming weeks! :P (Tuna bake, spag bog, etc. It's an exciting taste adventure in the Katie household with me cooking)

I don't like tuna much but the way everyone is buying it I was almost tempted! 🤭

In all this panic buying nonsense, I've noticed that the baby formula is still well stocked and not being purchased in such great numbers as in the past!

Yes I know what you are saying its my sons birthday. I make a very good lasagna, his favourite meal. I thought I will make him some lasagna and on saturday no mince any where. I thought what is going on! The butcher said there was a run on it!

I went to the butcher today and bought a kilo for the lasagna maybe I should have bought more? What is going on?

People were so much kinder when the bush fires were happening.

One of our station managers just dropped over with some goodies from field tests...... told the staff to keep the corn husks, maybe they can be dried for paper :)
