Indeed, I get the impression Aussies are too busy emptying supermarket shelves to go on holiday!
cheers skip

Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

I think it is more that hand sanitiser has a run on.

Hubby checks Coles when he goes to get the mail.

Hes coming home with some blueberries, strawberries and milk. He couldnt find balsamic vinegar, bleach, chux, tuna or the 3 Ts (toilet, tissue, towels)

did you get me some?
Maybe. Morning price! 😁

I went to Coles Burnside (eastern suburbs Adelaide) thinking I was an idiot. It was deserted but had been packed earlier. And yes. Toilet paper. No soap though.

First world problem, sent him to Bunnings to find some Chux cloths (we're going old school sponges again as no paper towels) and he came back with a box of toilet paper. ;Already put the word out to friends to shout out if they needed some. We have squares to spare

Edit He actually thought these were paper hand towels so bought them for my office

+1 just came back from the local Chemist Warehouse empty handed (was filling his usual script).
Everyone is being told to come back in two hours to pickup.

They should just drop a shipping container of toilet paper in the carparks of all major supermarkets and sell directly from that. Once people see there's plenty of toilet paper maybe they'll calm down about everything else.

Our authorities are clearly and squarely to blame for that part of the problem.

#spareasquare

Friend is on her way to our place as she hasnt been able to buy toilet paper for 3 weeks and had to get a roll from a neighbour. She works in emergency services so her hours are all over the place/no luck in the shops.

So Partner will get refill later today?

😟 zero biscuits (except choc coated) yesterday at woollies. No cream today. Queues to buy the fresh supplies of chicken that arrived in the deli yesterday afternoon.

No paper of any kind for more than a week (when I've been there). Allegedly they get supplies of TP daily but gone in a flash, despite rationing. I've bought an attachment on a hose for the shower to adopt the "Asian way" in the bathroom in case things don't improve with availability.

It's ridiculous. In Coles Burnside - no mince whatsoever of any kind. But lots of dry crackers, rice crackers (large round ones had been missing at Henley Beach for weeks), and toilet paper, tissues and scot towels. At Foodland Henley beach - no toilet paper, towels or tissues, no biscuits except sweet ones but stacks of every kind of meat imaginable including mince meats galore. And chicken. Both stores had lots of frozen vegetables, cheeses and dairy and including UHT milks.

While none of the family are hoarders I thought I should check that the adult kids had given it some thought. One son well taken care of by his partner who at times like this is awesome, (supplemented by me a little as we can't have mum or bubs going hungry) and other son had been ensuing that over the last few weeks he had maintained his stocks and not run down low and has enough for a month. I'm rationing the snacks that MrP has otherwise it's gone in 60 seconds. And I'm going to start limiting my shopping expeditions soon.

I knew I could adapt if necessary and now finally I have proof.

I used to buy many grocery items only when they were on special. Now I have morphed to buying them when they are available. I am feeling rather proud of myself.

I dont think there is a limit of 2 on everything. Just went to the Coles near my offie and bought 5 * Mainland cheese snack packs (4 slices of cheese with yummy cranberry crackers) and finally managed to buy 1 packet of white wings plain flour (the guy was just starting to upload sugagr form the trolly the flour was on, but I asked nicely if I could have 1 packet and he said no worries). No beef, chicken (apart from hot BBQ ones) or filled pasta avaiable.

About to duck out of the office again and see if the IGA has the eggs I like (eco eggs) I refuse to buy caged eggs from Coles/Woolies despite the madness. Now that I ahve flour i can bake again assuming I can get eggs.

I think despite bullying from boss to WFH permanently form Modnay, I will still come in at least 1 day a week, as the supermarkets (Coles, Aldi and IGA) at North Sydney all better stocked than my local. Ive just been grabbing 1 or 2 items a day.

That's correct. It is just those items that were extremely popular. You can buy as much broccoli and kale as you want! Cheeses etc also fine.

Friend found flour today, she only got one packet but could have gotten 2.

She said "One guy was trying to buy all the flour so the store person took it off him.... " All the flour?

Ive also been reading about quite a few distilleries and perfume manufacturers making hand sanitizer
