Indeed, I get the impression Aussies are too busy emptying supermarket shelves to go on holiday!
cheers skip

Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

I think it is more that hand sanitiser has a run on.

just back from the IGA where I was able to finally buy 1 half pack of 6 eggs :)

Woolworths "Seniors and Disability Hour" will continue 7-8am on weekdays only. Meaning stores will be open for general public from 8am-8pm on weekdays (with the Seniors and Disability Hour prior) and 7am-8pm on weekends.

However, the WA government has requested it happen every day, so WA stores will have "Seniors and Disability Hour" 7-8am Monday-Saturday and 10-11am on Sunday.

No new limits added this morning. There will be limits added this evening. The details of the new limits haven't been passed through yet.

I work in a school, today we finally managed to get 5L of hand sanitiser, it cost $180!! We finally got 5L of soap yesterday.

My boss showed me a video her cousin sent from Parks where she lives, showing a bus and trailer. It had out of town shoppers and they stripped the shelves bare. She said prior to that the locals were calmly just purchasing what they needed.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Whilst the country is almost going into lockdown, these people should be locked up for the duration. These scumbags are the drug traffickers of 2020.

In SA some country stores are making people show rates or rental notice. This is disgraceful behaviour.

I read some country stores were now limiting to locals, checking drivers license ect

I posted above a Manly gin company who are going to produce hand sanitiser for community groups, maybe you can contact them.

Our authorities are clearly and squarely to blame for that part of the problem.
Ok, I'll bite.

The chemist asking you to come back later so you are not standing around in a confined space with others has what, exactly, to do with the authorities? Apart from following the CMO's advice, of course.

Get them to send the video to the AFP as they are investigating this. People who have information about these hoarders have been asked to call crime stoppers.

I knew I could adapt if necessary and now finally I have proof.

I used to buy many grocery items only when they were on special. Now I have morphed to buying them when they are available. I am feeling rather proud of myself.
Haha! Me too😀

The next door neighbour told me that he has worked out the local woollies gets deliveries three or more times a day. But each delivery is only a specific product range. So if there is no pasta (for example) when you go, then go back in 2-3 hours and it might be there.

Nothing!

The government advising people to (originally) get 60 days of prescription medicines without warning to suppliers caused a huge run at the start of the week. That's where the authorities failed.

Individual pharmacists/chemists, they've done nothing wrong at all and I'm sure are doing their best in the circumstances :)

That will change for a great many stores as the night time delivery (noise) curfews are lifted. Night fill will be very active for many stores, things will change. Our local store looked much better today, give it a couple of days and it will be return to some sort of normal.

As we shake ourselves from that Maslow Needs pyramid then all sorts of "comforts" get shown the door. Society was at the top, we have fallen to the bottom. Sorry, my Psychology training is coming to the fore.

In addition to above, the great majority of stores across this country ceased night fill at midnight, just recently 11pm, due to recent media highlighted wage issues.

That's all change - just wait and see.

Each store has slots at the warehouse as to what is sent when and where. When each stores slot is, is based on warehouse logistics capacity, store location, store size and a few other factors.

In general, loads of different types arrive throughout the day and the main fill is done at night with the day staff working stock that didn't fit on the shelf from prior loads.

Most stores get produce loads in the late evening/early morning to fill that morning, then other stores (like Dickson) get 2 smaller produce loads a day, one in the evening to fill the next morning and one in the morning to fill that afternoon, because they don't have space for extra stock (ie, the stock forecasting says you'll sell today, thus you need it, but it won't fit on the shelf until this afternoon) out the back.

I've gotten Sunday sized Fresh loads all this week, and it's all gone by the afternoon.
Enough meat and chicken that would normally last the busiest trading day of the week and into monday morning, and it's all gone by mid afternoon with a total department sell out for the past 4 days.

There are still people trying to come up with excuses why they are "allowed" to get more then the limit. No, you are not allowed to get 4 packs of mince because there are 2 of you. It is not a limit of 2 packs per person.

The amount of money Coles, Woolworths and Aldi are raking in right now from panic buying makes me feel physically ill when so many local businesses are up against the wall.

Please support your local restaurants a few nights a week if you have the means. Most are now desperately doing takeaway to stay afloat.

And please please please try and avoid using Uber Eats / Deliveroo / Menu Log - any of those third party delivery apps. They take up to 30% of what the restaurant makes.

Please pick up yourself or if the restaurant delivers themselves that is ok.

Sorry I just walked down our high street and it’s only about 40% full when normally there are queues to get in everywhere. Was quite upsetting.

The stores with nearby Big W stores are starting to get Big W staff wanting extra shifts to come across and help the supermarket. They are working on the same with other Woolworths Group brands.
They are working out details for some stood down Qantas staff to possibly come across to help at Woolworths.
Should help the stock issues, provided the DCs can catch up.

SA has removed dock curfews until 30 Sep.
NSW has removed curfews until 20 Oct.
The state governments have overruled the local councils on these.
While stores (in NSW and SA) can now accept loads 24/7, it is still dependent on a store having staff there to unload a truck. (no point having a truck get to a store at 2am when there is no one there able to unload it)

2 pack limits being added to Proprietary Bread (eg Wonder White) and Instore Baked Bread and Cakes (excl Hot Cross Buns) from tomorrow.

Surprised no more meat limits yet.
