Indeed, I get the impression Aussies are too busy emptying supermarket shelves to go on holiday!

Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

I think it is more that hand sanitiser has a run on.

Havent heard so much lately about out of towners ransacking local supermarkets but it was apparently a problem earlier this week. Not only buses but convoys of cars coming to clean them out. A lot of talk online about limiting sales to locals. All a bit remote for us as we’re still on day six of self isolation.

one of our kids doing our buying for us, He cunningly avoided the hoarder hordes by getting everything we need, except TP, from Woolies at Chermside, rather than locally.

Saw 3 people walking down Spencer St in Melbourne with 16 packs of Quilton.

Coles obviously got a delivery. Brave souls to be flashing those puppies around in broad daylight!

Well I was at Woolworths in South Melbourne today and I’ve never seen so much toilet paper. The aisle was full and they had stock on the floor as well and barely anyone was buying. I guess most people had bought 6 months supply and stopped at that 😳

I’m guess WW must have just restocked but still it was almost too much to get past the toilet paper stock as it took floor space.

Mind you the rest of the store was out of a lot of stock forget about eggs, flour, cheese, milk, pasta, sauces, juices (only apple left), limited frozen food and quite a few biscuit lines gone so it wasn’t like the store was overstocked except for toilet paper. Weird.

I wonder what emergency items are actually needed
Especially if you can cook
We do have the staples but two or three weeks will have pasta all gone
We do have some flour which will need to be replaced

It seems the Peter Dutton and Ray Hadley interview was just dog-whistling and raising temperatures about Asians. There seems to be no evidence to support the concept.

Yes all I have seen to date is one pic of a mini-bus, and not an actual bus. Even if it was an actual bus, could one bus actually strip a whole supermarket?

Also in rural areas there are asian students, farm workers etc living in rural areas who obviously need to shop too..

The Guardian and the ABC on the case... I recall reading somewhere the government has the footage and is investigating the bus and the lady in Melbourne advertising for people to collect TP and she pays a buck for every roll they give her. Agree the level of racist cough online it generated is over the top.

My parents partners claim a large group of people from the big smoke conducted large purchases from their local and very much regional supermarket.

Anyway just went to one of my local woolworths in Melbourne. Didn't look for toilet paper, but loads and loads of fresh vegetables.

More fresh chicken breast then I've ever seen in a supermarket.
No eggs though
Plenty of premium low-fat mince
Loads of breads, fresh pastas, milk. Juice had been bought but still stock available

Seems people have panic bought enough and maybe the reduced printer will come out in the next week...

Hubby asked if he should go to the shops tomorrow.

Me: What for? Name one thing that we need?

He couldn't think of anything and that was my point. Staying home.

Well, my local Coles is pretty useless at managing stock levels at the best of times. Often doesn’t have the stuff that I am shopping for anyway. There doesn’t seem to be much difference in stock levels now that we officially have shortages. So, maybe not so bad after all. 😀

Must be another guitar he needs? Maybe guitar strings? Tuning fork? 😻

Sounds like the opposite of my local Woolies in NSW this morning. No TP at all, but there was dairy, pasta, juice, frozen products. I didn't look at biscuits, flour, cereal as I don't need them.

Im in the Hills District if you need TP.

Bickies sound good, might make a cake tomorrow but I'm pretty sure I've lost a kilo or 2 in the last couple of weeks.
