There are significant benefits.
While the issue of sovereignty is important, international relations are also important. Australia has a significant migrant population from Central Europe and it is important to be seen in a positive light

While TA and Tiley has kicked a massive home goal, the Australian Open is an important tourism event, and its reputation should be repaired. There is tourism in general to consider as well.

What is clear to me is that the bureaucrats both in the State and Federal governments are great at putting out directives, mandates, rules and regulations, they are very poor at thinking through the practical applications of those rules.

I do not think any real harm has been done to our international reputation. If anthing the Serbian President's comments made him seem petty and have highlighted how poorly Serbia is doing at rolling out the vaccine.

Most of international press ive seen come down on Australia's side.

The AO is bigger than any one player, and the sole reason Novak isnt playing is entirely his own selfish choice not to get vaccinated and then to brag about it.
