Crack the Case

I had my first paid stay at an IHG property in almost 2 years last week and the points posted over the weekend. I received 15,000+ PC points for a room which cost AUD117 and of these 14,500 were bonus points.

Now have 17,000+ PC points for the year and I may just call an end to the year on that note.

Next year I will take the survey, complete the 2nd Saturday night, complete the 2nd property (Crowne Plaza complete) and pay for 9 more nights and I should receive 107,000+ PC points not including what I would receive for the stays. :D

I don't really care that PointBreaks are rare as I will be using most of my PC points on stays requiring 5,000 PC points + $60. Not great value but better than nothing. Or I could transfer them for 20,000 QFF points or AA miles....

Posted this news on FT, thought I would throw it here too.

Just got my CTC targets.

My latches;

Take a survey Earn 500 bonus points
Opt-in for emails 10,000 bonus points (thanks to FT for this one, i unsubscribed just before i rang to get enrolled in CTC)
Stay 10 room nights 3,900 bonus points
Stay at 3 brands 2,200 bonus points
Stay 3 Saturdays 3,300 bonus points

Unlock all 5, and get 80,000 bonus points.

For a total of 99,900 points.

Very happy. Transferred to AA that's 20,000 miles, or a whole bunch of free nights at a IHG hotels, etc, and assuming the points for email and survey post by 31 December, it will push me to platinum status too.

Hi,

I racked up 90+ IHG qual nights and 250+k PC points this year but never got an invite to CTC, RA or anything similar. Does anyone know:

  1. the triggers to get an invite to CTC or options for me to enrol
  2. similar for RA status (yes, I am IC Ambassador but only stayed in 2 different IC this year)
  3. any other expected benefits of being a top 1% traveller?
Thanks for your help/advice!

Welcome to AFF, you need to have participated in the luckiest loser promo to get the CTC invite according to many, and you need three different IC Hotel stays to get a RA invite, that's three different hotels.

Excuse my ignorance but was does CTC balance mean?

I have 300k with IHG and don't get the correspondence that others seem to, what am I doing wrong?

Crack the case = CTC, as for no emails, check your communications preferences in your PC profile, mine was actually unchecked so my CTC invite came weeks after the emails in the mail:

I'm slowly getting there:

30 nights - done.
Survey - done.
Hotels - 7 out of 18
Saturdays - 7 out of 9.

Now to work out how to stay in 11 more hotels during the promotion!

Tough tasks!! I'm surprised that you even bother, Mal!

I think the 140K PC points bonus for succeeding is a big enough carrot for Mal.

Indeed! Already am 1/2 way towards requal for Plat ... and it's only a week into 2011!
...which you can "buy" (pts, not Plat) for USD860;)...as long as you will be doing the stays anyway, then it's worth it I guess; as for me, I'm doing 1 "unncessary" stay to get 80K (+ requalify for Plat)...this is the night of the Sat 29th Jan at HI Mel for $150:oops:

How is everyone going with Cracking their Case?

I've had a slow start:

Your mission is to crack open the case which holds 93,000 bonus points. As you unlock each latch, you’ll earn bonus points along the way.

Please follow these instructions.
  1. Crack open the case which contains 93,000 bonus points.
  2. The case is held shut by 4 latches
Take a Survey: Get 500 bonus points
Stay at 5 Brands: Earn 4,400 bonus points
Stay 10 room nights: Earn 3,300 bonus points
Stay 2 Saturdays: Earn 3,300 bonus points

Got 2 brands up (HI & CP), will add IC on next trip to PER or MEL
Only up to 2 room nights, but trip to PER, MEL & SYD in the next 2 months will help.
Not been away for a Saturday yet - need to take the family to HI Surfers ;)

Having the last week in May staying in London may push me over the top may get me the last 2, doesn't look like I'll get the 5 brands.

My offer:

Take 1 survey: 500 pts (done)
3 Brands: 2200 pts (lucky as there are IC, CP, HI in Australia)
2 Saturdays: 1700 pts (not too hard)
10 nights: 3900 pts (a bit harder but not impossible)

85300 points if I crack all 4....I think doable. Would I then hit Plat immediately if completed in 2011?

How is everyone going with Cracking their Case?
1. done survey
2. stayed 1 brand (HI Mel)
3. stayed 1 Sat (HI Mel)
4. Stayed 1 night (HI Mel)

Upcoming stays:

5 nights HIX San Fran Feb 11
4 nights CP Darwin (incl Sat night) May 11 for Ozfest

...and hopefully mission accomplished!

Why not book a hix and an indigo in London on the F&F rate, about £150 in total??

BTW Surfers is BOGO at present at both properties, so you can get two nights incl a Sat and also get the 5K bonus.

Stay 30 room nights (5000 points) - Done.
Stay 9 Saturdays (5000 points) - Done (but not credited yet).
Take a survey (500 points) - Done.

Stay at 18 properties (10000 points) - Not done. Only up to 7 still ...

While I want the other 11 property stays, I don't think I can do it with current travel patterns, plans and work commitments.

Mine is relatively simple but still a long way to go.

Syrvey: Completed
Stay at 2 brands: Completed
Stay 2 Saturday nights: Completed
Stay 10 room nights: 3 nights completed

I am slowly doing mine, although the 5 brand requirement probably means it will never be completed.

8 Saturdays required, done 5
23 nights, done 11.
5 brands, done 2.

I'm three nights away from another 133000 points and Platinum 'til end of 2012. It will be cleaned up at Ozfest in Darwin, late May, if not before. By that time I'll be dealing with around 200K PC points.

So just 1 Saturday night to go! I should have that done in a months time on a very quick trip to Brisbane. If not, then maybe just a night at one of the IHG locals in Perth.

An excellent suggestion markis10, as we arrive on a Tues, have to depart for Bristol for a weekend party, then back to London for 2 nights before departing to PRG.

Time to get booking.
