Just joined PCR today in preparation for doing the OzFest hotel bookings so very much the new kid on the block, but as always look forward to reading all your tricks of the trade.
Award stays don't count. As per Markis10's quote of the T and Cs:Do award stays count as part of the crack the case promotion?
I think they do and I have decided that I will take up the relatively easy challenge to earn over 105600 Priority Club Points.
Any rate counts as long as its not a reward night, dont forget Priority Privilege BOGOs which often bring the rates below F&F and also count as qualifying nights so you get points for the stay as well as the bonus at the end.
I think "no" to both... but happy to be shown to be wrong:!:Do 1 night cancellation charges count?
Cancelling at 1600 on day of arrival with a 48 hour canx policy doesn't cut it?
Will I still get points even?

I do not believe so.:-|Do award stays count as part of the crack the case promotion? ...

See this lengthy FT thread for more information:
Good to know re Drw and Ent rate as I have the CP booked for 4 nites on the Ent rate for Ozfest. My target is only 10 nights for 80+K PC pts. What do you get markis10 for needing 54 nights....? 2-300K or more:?:Recent DRW stays on Ent rate and BOGO rates are noted in my tally of 24 as I try to hit 54 my May 31! Multiple rooms also count.

I meant to say points + pay rather than pure award nights. Are they same?I do not believe so.:-|Do award stays count as part of the crack the case promotion?
I am almost certain that someone in this thread mentioned that points + pay counts as a stay for this promotion.
That is OK. It is worth a shot. That thread on Flyertalk is 81 pages long and like looking for a needle in a haystack. One way to find out would be to book a points + pay stay and see if it appears as a stay in my profile.I asked about it earlier, but personally believe that it wouldn't.

When you book a "cash and points" stay with PC, the cash component is used to buy the remaining PC points needed, and the booking is then finalised as tho. you have used points only. You pay PC, not the hotel, the cash component. The stay is marked as a non qualifying stay on your PC account from personal experience....hence, my believe that "Points and Cash" stays don't count for the "Crack the Case" promotion. That is OK. I have found a couple of cheap Holiday Inns that may just do the trick....

That is a shame. Need to put Plan 'B' into action....hence, my believe that "Points and Cash" stays don't count for the "Crack the Case" promotion.
Do I take that to mean that friends & family rates are not generally regarded as a qualifying stay either?I would agree with that, friends and family rates often come close and do qualify.

Do we know for certain that friends and family rates qualify for this promotion?F&F rates do not get points in most cases and are not regarded as a qualifying night for elite status etc, but they are a paid night and thus qualify for the CTC promo.
Do we know for certain that friends and family rates qualify for this promotion?
I can do without the Priority Clubs points for now if it means I will get the 105600 PC points for this promotion.
I did not receive an email last month; however this week a card arrived by Snail mail (all the way from Belgium).
My "Locks" are:
That totals 24,300 points.
- 10,000 Points: Opt in For E-mails (Already Unlocked )
- .1,000 Points: Survey (Done, not unlocked as yet)
- .4,400 Points: 2 Brands
- .3,300 Points: 2 Saturdays
- .5,600 points: 10 nights (not impossible)
Do all 5 and I earn an additional 125,000 Points for a total of 149,300.
Hmmm... I guess this is some sort of enticement! I already have 3 Qualifying nights (including a Saturday) booked for May Ozfest, another two in NZ (One a Saturday night). Booking include CP and HI, so all I need is another 5 nights between now and then.
Strategy? ...
Well, phase 1 is complete. My three stays in NZ last weekend crossed the line and increase my point tally by around 20,000 (2 x 2K pre-paid bonus helped there along with the 7,700 for Brand and Sat Night), much more than the 9K I needed for Platinum.I just realised that with the "biggest loser" and this promotion, along with a transfer of AMEX MR to PC for 15K towards a 25K booking (replacing a $330 booking) that I'll make Plat this year with a total of 2 award and 3 paid stays.
More to the point, the CTC bonus if 125K when I plan to earn it next year will give me another year at Platinum.
