Then Rogers survives:

34.5
Mohammed Shami to Rogers, no run, and another wicket! Rogers is gone for 56. That is some bad luck. This is short down the leg side. The batsman goes for a pull shot but gets a glove on it. The umpires want to check if Dhoni has taken it cleanly or not. It was dropping on to his right. Loud boos around the ground as this is shown on the big screen. Looks like it has just dropped short. It's signalled not out. Rogers survives the curse of the 50s

Damn, Rogers goes:

40.3Ashwin to Rogers, OUT, he is got him! Rogers doesn't really get too far from him 50s anchor. Rogers plays forward to this tossed up delivery, a bit outside the line, but gets an inside edge on to his pads. It rolls on to his stumps.

CJL Rogers b Ashwin 69 (123b 8x4 0x6) SR: 56.09

4/164 with Joe Burns the new batsman

Tea, with Australia 4/174, a lead of 239. We'd better bat well in the last session to put enough runs on the board in order for us to have enough time to get India out (let alone have them chase down the total). There's nothing wrong with a draw lads...

I don't think we should be aiming for a draw here. Take the foot off the accelerator, and losing a couple of wickets could very well mean an Indian win. The best way to ensure a draw here is to keep scoring runs so India has to also focus on restricting runs while trying to get wickets. It's still a pretty good pitch, so it's possible to chase 300 here so we really need at least another 150 just to be safe.

Not a good first Test for Joe Burns:

45.3Sharma to Burns, OUT, Mr Burns has to go! He pokes his bat at this length delivery outside off, it bounces a touch extra, gets a big deflection and a good catch from Dhoni, diving to his right.

JA Burns c †Dhoni b Sharma 9 (17b 0x4 0x6) SR: 52.94

5/176 with Haddin the new batsman

Light meters could be Australia's saviour. Or is that India's saviour?

MrP currently listening to the cricket on a ferry between Koh Samui and Koh Tau in Thailand via digital app on phone. Tune in radio.

Are we imploding??

55.2
Yadav to Haddin, OUT, caught down the leg side! Yadav keeps getting batsmen down the leg side. He bowls it full, and this tail in sharply, slipping down the leg side. Dhoni appeals immediately and the umpire agrees. Haddin is not too happy but he will have to go. There is something on the snicko..nothing on the hot-spot

6/203, only leading by 267. Could we lose this from the jaws of success :o

Mitchell Johnson strides to the crease.

Was just in with a client, come out to find Johnson out:

67.1
Mohammed Shami to Johnson, OUT, end of Johnson's stay! Shami bowls a bouncer and Johnson has a swing at that, gets a bit of top-edge and it lobs up for the man at midwicket. Just got a bit too big on him. Lots of words from Indian fielders has Johnson walks back
MG Johnson c Rahane b Mohammed Shami 15 (47m 27b 2x4 0x6) SR: 55.55

Marsh has made his 50 and Harris in. Now 7/246, lead 311

Indians trying get Australia all out. That could play into our hands. ;)

Well I had a good day at the G today. Caught up with quite a few mates and had a LONG lunch in the long room :)
Just got home after beers and wines at the HotP lobby. Had to leave when they closed the bar. Only had to cross the street to catch the train.
Reckon Australia will still bat for half an hour or so tomorrow then declare. Draw seems probable outcome at this stage.

Is there any better way to enjoy the cricket other than a long lunch :D ;)

So this was the position at stumps. Play begins at 10am local time (30 mins early). Will we have a result today?

Sounds good Goodonya.

I wish I could have joined you, but alas duty calls this week. :( :(

Whatever the result the selectors will need to have a close look at Shane Watson and Joe Burns.

I realise this is Burns' first test but he doesn't seem to have the discipline required for test level at this stage.

Watson has had serious health issues and it may be time to look at the younger and fitter players.

Look like they just are using up time / overs to give India less time to make the runs and win...First priority is not to lose, then try and bowl India out, if not, settling for a draw, and hence a series win..

Interesting statistic on Cricinfo.

Australia's last 5 wickets averaging 60 runs/wicket. India's last 5 wickets averaging 15 runs/wicket.

This innings another perfect example. Australia 5/176 and now 7/301.

Should you tamper with a winning combination? I believe Watson, Marsh and Burns don't belong in the team but is there anyone better waiting to get in?

Marsh will stay in the team due to this innings.

At home today, so watching the telecast on Ch9 with ABC Radio.

Harris out for 21. 8/303 with Marsh 86. Lyon in now
