My main criticism of Lyon would be be his lack of variety, in partic the doosra, the other one or whatever you call it. I know the other off spinners who bowl it all seem to have suspect bowling actions but if Lyon had a top spinner that would be very helpful as well. As John says he became too predictable yesterday to get the tail out...having said that, the Indians are the masters, of spin esp. off spin.... even the great Shane Warne struggled against them!

I've never enjoyed watching spin bowling. Warne changed that for a while but his constant appealing became tiresome.

I am no big fan of Lyon but he didn't get to bowl to many left handers-maybe none in Syd? I don't think that gouged out hole helped any bowler yesterday.
Thought I heard that there had been a general crackdown on the bowling of doosras etc- I reckon it is a disgrace that Murali sits at the top of the bowling records. I see some bowlers were read as 43 degrees & no way Murali stayed under 15 (in itself cheating) in a match.

I agree about Murali. The disgrace was forcing Darrell Hair from umpiring for calling Muralitharan
