It will be interesting to see how Lyon handles this turning wicket. The timing of the declaration will be crucial.

Now about to drive home from Hervey Bay, so won't be posting (but will be listening):

Kohli out!!! Australia have got a sniff now....

Raina out forr a pair...5/203....5 wickets for Aussie win

Another duck...now 4 wickets needed with 19 overs left. That ball basically rolled along the ground to get Saha out LBW

Goodness. Everyone but Haddin needs to think about their honesty.

Ashwin out....3 wickets needed in just over 10 overs

Ettamogah Pub stop - cmon Aussies you can do it!!

How did he handle the turning wicket? Figures of 2/100+ are not exactly impressive but sometimes figures do lie.

Personally I feel he is totally overrated but then I am just an armchair critic.

Actually I agree with you John :)

One innings does not make or break a bowler.

Look at his figures over the series - as many wickets as any two of the top 3 fast bowlers combined.

I rate Lyon as a good test spin bowler. Not great but has taken the wickets over the series. There were some loose deliveries in the last 2 sessions and these were promptly dispatched to or over the boundary.
Johnson was the best of the quicks and Lyon took nearly double his wickets for the series. His efforts seriously helped the Australian series win.

Lyon impressed me with a wicket from his first ball in test cricket. Not many can make that claim

And he bowled the same number of overs?

Not just one innings. A test match average of 35+ runs/wicket for a spinner is below average. Take out his flukish 12 wickets in Adelaide and the rest of the series is ordinary. And yes I know it was a series dominated by the bat.

I read an article last night where it mentioned Lyon bowled 24 identical balls in succession on the last day. Batsmen were just waiting and playing comfortably. He bowled over a third of the overs yesterday.
