We only saw bits of the final in Fiji as Sky sports decided that a Rugby match was more important.

It was live here in AKL although the pilot didn't announce the score upon landing. Another pax turned on his phone and joyfully regaled us all with the score of all out for 183. Then went to the hotel and watched the Australian innings.

Big crowd - 93 013 people. That's about an AFL grand final crowd isn't it? There are large areas behind the sightscreens lost so I assume capacity must be around 95K?

Depending on configuration just over 100K. 95k seating, 5k standing. Record was 120k for the 1970 grand final.

I remember I didn't see MrP for a week when they won the Sheffield Shield...

That would have made life fantastic and yet challenging - I hope you took a week off on his return so he could see what it was like to do everything for your family ;)

So where is the next CWC in 2019? Maybe we could arrange an AFF function?

It's good to see how teams handle the pressure on GF day. Some do it better than others...
And that's not how it should be.

AFL/NRL possible for a team with a 12-12 record through the season to win grand final.

England and Wales

Pity Ireland and Scotland aren't co-hosts. They could build formidable home ground winning streaks!

I can't believe the sour grapes comments I've read (mainly from Indian fans) saying that Aus and NZ were only there because of the home ground advantage and "Australia can only win at home". Many fire back with the fact that Australia's four other World Cup wins have occurred on four different continents and this was the first win at home.

A few sore heads the next day.

Apparently the trophy was dropped and broken with a need for hurried repairs before the next public appearance.

As mentioned on the 3aw rumour file this morning.

I think that rumour runs with every major trophy event.

50% of India's wins have been at home. The other was in England V West Indies-the climate probably beat them.
