Current Qantas First Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

Sadly, it did not. And no decanter wine apparently (I did ask).

Was sent to the roped off area for first time though. The kingfish was sensational… had to get two servings of it before QF11.

Lounge was super busy. Adding QF11 to the afternoon roster sees two QF A380’s now departing at similar times. Despite this, managed to get 2x waitlisted spa times confirmed (myself and MrsChooms).

Do you happen to know what time the spa opens in the AM in MEL?

I wonder if Oneworld's new "The 25" signature coughtail will be on the menu in the Qantas First Lounges during May and June?

Maybe someone going through soon can ask the lounge?

My next trip out is 3 weeks away still.

I’m passing through on Thursday and then again next Friday. I’ll see if there is anything special going on.
ANZAC biscuits and Two-up?

Presumably the QF Lounge is exempt from no booze before noon on ANZAC Day?

Someone recently quizzed about Good Friday but the bar does open but standing room only! (from personal experience - never to be repeated).

The First lounge was not serving Alcohol until Midday due to it being ANZAC day. However, on boarding (back then before Noon) they were happy to serve Bubbles to First PAX.

IIRC, there was a tech. issue and we were deboarded for a couple of hours - back to the First lounge and more bubbles as it was then afternoon.

Good thing I'm not flying out of SYD until the evening on Thursday. I was under the impression they could serve drinks with food but perhaps that's just some states?

My understanding is that in NSW all pubs and bars are closed until noon on ANZAC Day.

Serving Lallier in SYD Flounge at 6.30am this morning 👍 It was the only champagne option…
Was also the only option at 4pm today. Nothing Anzac special in the first lounge today. Passed through the OOL Qantas Club earlier and they had really nice ANZAC cookies (probably the first nice thing said about that place).

At SYD F now.

Tried the buffalo mozzarella and tomato - was ok. I liked the same dish better at SIN F lounge.

I usually go for a Bloody Mary, but this time wanted to try something else. So, asked the wait staff what their recommendation for coughtails and was suggested the Margherita. Took one sip and I did not like it. Just a personal palette issue rather then quality issue. Went back to my usual BM.

Then tried the pumpkin, goats cheese, capers papperdelle. God, hated it with a passion. The pumpkin was not seasoned. There seem to be pumpkin purer at the bottom on the plate, again lacked any flavour, except for bland pumpkin. The capers, goats cheese was a good combo. So scooped the cheese and capers are stopped eating that dish. I hate food wastage, but in this instance, I genuinely hated the dish.

Then had the stir fried mushroom, tofu - the plant based option. OMG! I was in heaven 😍 amazing dish. Only drawback was the portion size - next time, ill order a few serves of this plant based option.

Then had the Pav - loved it to pieces 😍

My day with QF lounges don’t seem to go well. There seemed to be some issues with my food order. The wait staff who took the order said that they had sent it to the kitchen, but I didn’t get anything today for over 20 mins after ordering … the kitchen seemed busy, so I didn’t think much about it. I later enquired with my wait staff, she checked with the kitchen and the kitchen staff told that they had already sent my order out 10 mins ago … but I didn’t get any food … my waitstaff then told me that there will be another 15 mins before I will get my order and someone had taken the dishes that were made for me … feeling a bit peeved, I politely asked to talk to a supervisor.

Supervisor came by, did some inquiries and came back to me and said that there has been some confusion. Someone had ordered the exact same things I ordered and they were served first. I explained it all good, but how come the order numbers got mixed up. The supervisor then told me that some of the waitstaff are still under training and this might have contributed to this confusion. I said it’s all good. I explained that I also work in the service industry and I appreciate the work being done, in this instance it felt like someone dropped the ball and instead of taking anymore time from the floor staff, I preferred to talk to a supervisor.

During meal service, the supervisor came by once again , apologised once again and gave me a fruit platter. I refused it profusely because my intention was not to get any favours, but just to highlight an issue. She said that she appreciated that I asked to talk to a supervisor and insisted that I take the fruit platter.
