Current Qantas First Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

Hoping ‘Easter period’ extends to Wednesday…
Sadly, it did not. And no decanter wine apparently (I did ask).

Was sent to the roped off area for first time though. The kingfish was sensational… had to get two servings of it before QF11.

Lounge was super busy. Adding QF11 to the afternoon roster sees two QF A380’s now departing at similar times. Despite this, managed to get 2x waitlisted spa times confirmed (myself and MrsChooms).

The roped off area is nice and calm in the early morning (though did look busy by 8:30 after my spa session). Sadly no sashimi - so reverted to good old corn fritters.

I should have gone with the fritters this morning. Unfortunately Light Breakfast was quite underwhelming. The more you know!

It was certainly a busy morning though. I had to go on a waitlist for a table when I arrived, which was unexpected. It was less than a 10 minute wait though.

Gua bao in Melbourne. Strong flavours, good quality.

Wasn't keen on anything I'd previously had from this menu. Luckily the F Host who settled me in to my favourite corner room suggested the mushroom dish.

Was a good recommendation. Nice flavour on its own. Chillis added the heat as desired.

Not a good set of wines so went straight to the top shelf. Frustratingly small pours as usual.

Looks like a decent pour of vodka in your glass there ;)

At MEL for an unexpected breakfast yesterday after QF9 became the much earlier QF209, only one Champagne was on offer. Is this the new normal?

Once there was only one offered; when I queried this I was told the other option had only just been put on ice.

I asked for it anyway and it indeed came out cool - Still fine.

We weren't given a choice last month, but I did notice another table being served a different variety 🤷‍♀️

As predicted, no invite to the special area in SYD yesterday as I was flying BA F.

The average champagne offering of Piper ran out after my first glass, this was at about 1pm. Guess the Monday morning fliers drank more than expected.

They probably did you a favour. No need to ruin the palate with mediocre champagne in the lounge when you’ll get far better options onboard for at least 8 hours (or much more of you fly all the way to LHR) :)
