I haven't tried the SYD version, did you rate it? I'd be happy for at least the MEL version to be a permanent fixture, there's only so many eggs benedict and corn fritters I can eat.

I didn't mind it except for the corn but I added too much chilli so it overpowered the flavour

Buffalo mozzarella and radicchio salad in MEL this weekend. Light and refreshing. Good combination of salty, bitter and sweet (dressing) flavours. Only niggle is more mozzarella would have been appreciated.


Then snapper. Despite a mildly disappointing piece of fish (small and a fraction overcooked) this was actually excellent. The sauce was salty and flavourful (great for the rice to soak up) and you can’t go wrong with salted and pickled chillies.

Wine an off-menu Cab Sav from the decanter which was decent.

This was last Thursday’s lunch in SYD. Very similar to what others have had off this menu, except we paired the lamb with a side off Paris mash (butchered it a bit before I remembered to take the photo )

After an amazing spa session with the lovely Tanya who is an absolute gem and looked after my particular requests perfectly, returned for a cheese plate and some top shelf refreshments.



The cheese was ok but the Ardbeg, Laphroaig and Dalwhinnie whiskies very nice and great to see still in the MEL lounge.

Great feedback on the Scotch, last time I was there they had Rochfort (a while ago now).
Now I know where the CL got their Laphroaig from!

I think opening hours may depend on what flights are operating. But my session at 15:30 was either the last or second last that day. Spa was closed at 16::30 and Tanya came round and said goodbye to me as she left the lounge some time around 17:30.

MEL Proffering today

Gua Bao (lovely as ever)

Grilled Sumac Lamb (very good)

Had the cheese .. quality!

After @serfty post, I also had the bao and the lamb which was fantastic. Even though I might be biased I remain steadfast in that the MEL first lounge is QFs best.

Sydney F lounge - every dish was done really well and no complaints. Highlights - gua bao, kingfish sashimi, roasted pear and the creme caramel.

Creme caramel came highly recommended by the waiter and we were not disappointed.

Qantas A380 reliability issues creeping up again?

Probably not, but then again, QF flights to China now gets routed through HKG following removing PVG flights so maybe they'll have more traffic? That's true - I'm going to be going to take QF to HKG then Cathay to Shanghai.
