New winter breakfast menu out 5th June ‘24

View attachment 388698
Was in the MEL lounge yesterday 5th June and they still had Autumn menu (both breakfast and all day menus).

Got there before end of breakfast, ordered breakfast salad of avocado, soba noodles, cripsy mushrooms, poached egg and nori. Salad arrived with no crispy mushrooms or nori, and with pickled ginger instead. Poached egg was more solid than runny. I enjoyed the bloody mary!

Later on I had the S&P squid which was very lightly cooked but still good. Also asked for the pork bao without the bao, two serves but was only given one :(. No biggie, staff were excellent and very attentative for coffee and champagne refills. In between had a spa session and a lively and interesting conversation with the lady giving the facial.

Very busy in the SYD Flounge this morning - Sunday thing, the 75th HKG anniversary congee was very good - more a soup than congee, but that didn’t matter 👍 Lallier continues to be the bubbles

Food looks good but Lallier is a pathetic choice for FLounge Bubbles. I get piper-heidsick in AA Flagship (Oneworld SAPPHIRE) Lounges in the USA

The Lallier is hands down a way better champagne than coughpy Piper-Heidsick (or Mumm, for that matter).

We must agree to disagree on that one I’m afraid.
I've had it multiple times and I disagree completely. It comes down to personal preference and price point. I'd love to see Qantas investing in their lounge wine program in their acclaimed first class lounge

Appears to be more in that salad than just what is on the menu. For example, I think I see spinach and pickled ginger.
I suppose some salads it would be impractical to mention every single ingredient....
Given that most dishes consist of only a handful of main ingredients, they could print them all. My gripe is with the automatic inclusion of toast even when it's not listed (last time took the omelettes with ham & gruyere, no bread listed but came with it nevertheless). Lucky I can get away by putting it aside - creating completely avoidable and unnecessary food waste.

Something I wish the lounge chef would do is a second version of the menu, listing the usual dietaries / allergens (nuts, gluten, dairy, vegan, etc). That would be helpful so that we don't need to ask the staff every single time and have them run to the kitchen to check on ingredients.

About to leave the Flounge for QF1 - I would say all in all a quite disappointing experience.

The dishes presented looked tired (as compared to what the SIN F Lounge does) and some of them are 1-1 the same.

Staff was not super interested in working, and forgot two of my orders.

I was also asked to leave the dining area twice as I had my laptop out but I was still ordering food such as the cheese plater (which was one of the things that got forgotten by staff - maybe as retaliation).

You would think Qantas could do better, but Sofitel staff was not up for it today. Sad...

Was the lounge busy? I’m trying to work out why you were asked to leave with your laptop out. I’ve sat there countless times on my laptop even after I’ve stopped eating.

Very busy - I’d say at 1215, every table in the dinning area was taken. I guess they wanted the table back for other people. That is fine but you don’t do that when the person is actually still ordering and eating.🍽️

Very attentive service in a pleasantly quiet MEL Flounge this morning. Good but not great smoked salmon Benny, but this probably comes down to the quality of the ingredients that QF is prepared to stump up for. Washed down with the Lallier which is quite good, though I miss the days when Perrier-Jouet was on offer. The espresso coffee was particularly good though and much needed after an all too short sleep on the flight from PER. Managed to snag a foot massage also, so all in all a good experience!
