Current Qantas First Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

Thanks defurax. Really good to know.

The market inspirations look good.

I'm again disappointed with the wines in MEL. I am very biased to Tassie, and yet to see a Tas wine in this lounge despite Sydney regularly having good Tas Rieslings or pinot noirs.

Thanks again. Hope you enjoyed!

Visually, the dishes don't look all that appealing, hopefully they taste better. I'm there next week, looking forward to it!

There's a separate thread on the spring menu, started by Red Roo, which has user reviews of the new menu (mine included). It's s much more hit and miss menu this time in my opinion, so worthwhile checking these out before you go.

Thanks, yes I was aware of the thread - will see how my experience compares with yours!

I'm on for next week too - the burger is my plan B :)
You have a plan B? My plan is to try as many as I can practically finish - I never waste food and my record is 8 or 9 dishes in one long visit :D. I'm going to try that "secret menu" bacon and egg brioche bun that Ausbt mentioned... sounds wanky, but my guess is that if they have the ingredients and it's not too difficult to make, then you can have anything you want.

And a Plan C too - a Hentley Farm Shiraz lunch with some cheese on the side :)

A great day in the Flounge today.

For starters Mrs Rugby and I shared a Salt and Pepper Squid, Buffalo Motz, and a Kingfish Sashimi. For mains we both had the Mongolian Beef with Jasmine Rice from the Market Inspirations menu - excellent. To finish we shared a Fig and Hazelnut Tart and the Pineapple and Pomelo Salad.

The wine in the decanter was the Coriole McLaren Vale Shiraz 2007. We also both managed 20 min treatments. The Hentley Farm Shiraz 2014 was also nice.

Six hours well spent :)

Notwithstanding what happened with the mould, which of the burgers available on the current menu of the MEL F lounge is the tastiest ?

Only had one beef and one fish burger, and in Sydney, but I preferred the beef. The fish was nice but accompaniments were a little lacking - may have been as it was quite late evening when I had it.

First try of the Spring menu today in MEL - nice, quality meals but none of the dishes sampled by my party were wow. Some didn't impress at all.

Dissapointingly there is no special wine in the decanter and will not be today? + the Maverick twins I was looking forward to is not available.

It has probably been posted elsewhere and been the case for awhile but the spa is now only open from 8 to 11 am and the same time slot pm so my girls miss out on the experience.

In the Sydney Flounge now. A mixed bag so far. Nice and quiet after my last few visits in the morning when it can get a bit busy. The classic squid was perfect, the market inspiration Thai beef was spicy mince on rice with a fried egg on rice - nothing wrong with it, but completely unremarkable. Also disappointed by the decanter wine, its a $25 Philip and Shaw no 17. Again, nothing wrong with it, but not really up to some of the absolute gems I've had the luck to taste in the lounge before.
