re the stir fried chicken - the pic posted above is exactly how it was for me (SYD, last week) - it surprise me as it seemed half almost soupish rather than what I was expecting. It wasn't bad, it's just that the description (to me, anyway) didn't quite match what was dished up.

Agree that all the other food was great. I had the "American" sundae, which was in one of those cups and was pretty nice. and of course the salt n pepper squid was the usual quality. I did not partake in any bread products :D

I would note one disappointment with my SYD experience... the service was a bit hit and miss. Not that they weren't attentive but twice I asked for things that were not delivered as expected (eg: I asked for a refill of water, and got sparkling rather than still - even though it was the same waiter and I'd had still earlier). Not a big deal but not what I'd expect.

aside, used LAX F lounge on return with their winter menu, and had some winners on it too. Had a burger and it was super fresh and tasted good, and a chocolate fondant for dessert was really good too. Bubbly was a bit of a let down but well.. it's LAX.

I have spend a couple of hours in the Sydney F lounge just before Christmas, it was one big disappointment starting form the waiters to either forget a dish or not bringing the right dish ordered. The attitude of the staff was below the usual standard. On top of all that the food was very average, not what i have experienced in the past. I used to go out of my way to fly via SYD to get access to the F Lounge but I think it is very overrated now. Maybe the novelty wore off. These are just my observations on my last visit.

I used to prefer MEL for these same reasons but the staff and food have been very good in SYD of late (for me at least). My next three (OneWorld) international trips all go through SYD so hope my luck holds.

I have also experienced in SYD the failure to deliver on exactly what is requested a couple of times. Obviously some standard/expectation that the wait staff don't take notes and memorise your order. But it leads to mistakes so just allow a notepad I say. On my most recent visit a (very lovely) new wait staff member fortunately came back to my table once to confirm my order - so much better than her taking a guess!

Managed 4 courses yesterday (first for me!), none of which were pretty enough to take a photo except for this little beauty.

Kept reminding myself to try other dessert but I still couldn't get pass this one and Noble One of course. Wine in pic was the decantered Petaluma limited edition 2012 Merlot which was yummy.

Had the American burger. I'm not a fan of 'medium-rare' burgers but it seemed to work just ok. However; I wouldn't order it again as we didn't find it special. The fries were not hot-hot either. Maybe because it was 6:30pm and they weren't busy. And yes we did eat the burger with our hands (we watched others try to use knife and fork) - each to their own.

The squid was as always, perfect as a starter

No. Art is empty plates with just the colours and crumbs left so you have to imagine the original dish. Half-eaten is just someone who forgot to take the photo in time, otherwise known as slackness. ;)

May be slackness. Or in my case, urgency to have a mouthful or two before asking for a wine refill. Taking a pic somewhat down the priority list.
