Current Qantas First Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

It was soft, tender and, surprisingly for the Flounge, substantial ...

Given I have, in the past, complained about the serving sizes - I should note my view of the dishes in SYD and MEL for the summer menu have generally been much better sized.

I was tempted but decided against the lamb last weekend - now I'm regretting that call! Not flying QF/OW again until March so I suspect I've missed out.

This was the decanter special in SYD.

Very disappointing wine, didn't like it at all.

While food quality is consistent, the wine list (especially reds) not as impressive as it used to be.

I wonder if it has anything to do with dismissing the wine panel for the Rockpool team.

Agree the wines and champagnes have been going downhill. Last week I asked what the decanter special was and it took 3 staff to figure it out and tell me - even then there was no explanation of variety or sense of whether it would be a good choice with my meal. Also have always been very disappointed with the poor spirits selection. Very few whiskeys of note.

Current F Lounge Menu

A downward trend for the past 12+ months... F in the air is the same IMO.

Food is a hit and miss. It is definitely better when it is quiet and no Jetstar flights operating...

FWIW, I haven't been too impressed with Reschke's Coonawarra offerings of late. I had one as a DIAM amenity at the PHS and it was pretty average. At least Jimmy124 was on hand to drink it all for me.

Was advised on Thursday in the Mel F Lounge they are no longer doing the decanter wines. Has any one else had the same experience or is this BS?

Last Mon week, prior to our late evening flight to Hnd, the 4 of us managed to sample a large number of dishes from the current F lounge menu. Generally, the food was very good, but Neil Perry inspired chefs do not cook Asian style dishes (6th photo below - Thai chilli basil beef with free range egg and jasmine rice) very well. As others have mentioned, the Reds were only fair;)

The other day I had the duck and the sashimi, plus the thai chilli beef - all looked exactly as per your pics kpc - but I actually quite liked the beef (though I ignored much of the egg).

I asked Friday and was told that nothing was in the decanter "at the moment", didn't think it implied that they had abandoned the practice entirely. I have to admit most of my F lounge visits have been in SYD lately, so don't remember exactly the last time I had something from the decanter in MEL.

TBIT - Sea Bass

Cooked almost perfectly - only issue it came while I was still attending to my surprisingly robust Tuna ...

Oh ... they had run out of the Laurent Perrier Champagne ... the nic rose is ok ... I didn't appreciate the Mumm Cordon Rouge last time here.

As a noted club sandwich fan (Club Sandwich Lifetime Crumb Club actually) I have to ask: how is the (inspired by Neville Parry) version?

I'm not usually Merlot drinker but this drop was quite nice, paired well with the lamb dish.
