Current Qantas First Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

A bit like Peking duck without hoisin sauce pancake or shallot with a mild vinigerette

The duck itself was good ... the other parts were interesting. .. minimal sesame taste. .. cucumber thinly sliced.

Lamb shoulder could be eaten with a fork. The lemon roasted sweet potato that came with it was gorgeous (if a bit salty).

No decanter out again - it maybe extinct. The Devil's Lair Chardy is a nice standard and the St John's Shiraz is young, but decent.

I'm in SYD tomorrow for a 6-hour transit

The Devil's Lair is a good wine but I notice the Grosset Semillon Sauvignon Blanc has disappeared from the wine list. Looking forward to a glass or two of the Hazelgrove GSM with the sticky beef. I'll look out for any appearance of the decanter.

At SYD right now. No decanted red wine today and I've received a half pour on the (first) glass of Champagne. Also noticed there's no cotton towels in the bathroom, only paper towels.

It seems you can lo longer ask for an omelette in the QF F SYD lounge...it's "only what's on the menu"...they have always made either scrambled eggs or omelette - never been a problem. Was there on 28OCT.

So today I had to to try the boccincini as an entree, the first time in 8 years! The Mumm Rose was a perfect match. Then the duck salad and sticky beef. Lovely and relaxed lunch.

Somehow forgot to post what was probably the most surprising dish in recent visits - mussels with pasta and aioli in spicy sauce. Was a market special in Melbourne, from memory. Didn't think the combination would suit but it was a really tasty dish.
