Checking in also. We did the Bernina Express a few years ago. Stunning scenery, enjoy whether you are on the Express or the local train.
We also did a private 7 day charter with friends last year on the Dalmation coast. You will love it! Cute islands and crystal clear waters.

Looking forward to following along.

Do you have any details? The ones I’ve seen have been in buses. Not keen.

Hi Pushka,
ok, the company we used for the day trip to Epernay, apparently from I can figure, doesn't exist anymore. Any others I can find are either buses or 400+ euros.

Anyway, the day trip we did to Picardy was with Food Tours of Paris and Beyond Since 2010 - Culinary Tours of Paris it's 225 euros. A small van, seating 8 at most. From memory there was 6 on the day we went. Now only goes on thursdays and fridays. We also did their food tour of the Latin Quarter. Highly recommend them for any tour. Jean-Paul is French-Canadian, and really looks after you.

Maybe not what you were after, but worth a look. :)

Thankyou for trying. Our day is the Sunday, June 3. I’m googling the strike every day. I emailed the train line through whom I’d booked the non refundable ticket but even they are saying it will be refunded once June arrives. That’s not a great sign :(

Well, fingers crossed for you :)

I'm sure you are, but start planning a 'plan B' just in case.

3 more sleeps. It’s getting close.

The last few days have been spent clearing out rooms of our house in time for the building Reno’s to start while we are away. Living in an old Tudor on reactive soils = cracks. Not too bad really, but they will detract from future sale so we need to get those repaired and then painted. Yesterday ordered carpet for the rooms and which will be installed when we get back so I don’t have to do the furniture shuffle twice. Bedroom a mess and an Monday the guys are coming in to cover all our gorgeous floorboards. And of course SA Power Networks have advised an all day power blackout for maintenance so all the business stuff will need to be done Sunday. And washing last minute in Tuesday. Lucky the flight leaves around 10.15pm.

But this morning I’m updating all the travel plans.

We’d been to Dubrovnik and Kotor on a large cruise ship and the scenery is simply stunning. We’d had friends, multiple friends, who had caught ferries from place to place along the coast. Extremely popular with young Aussies too. Not that this is necessarily a good thing coz they party, hard. And of course I’m a GoT tragic and seeing all these places shown in the series was fabulous. Winter is coming ;)

So we, well, I started looking around for a similar option but one where we didn’t have to keep packing and unpacking. There are party boats that are great value, but we are not that crowd. We are too old. Like to sleep. Etc etc. So it seems the natural divide is by cost of the ‘cruise’. Lots of googling and we finally settled on MV President which is a vessel that has around 30 passengers, usually older, who like their comfort and sleep. It was easy to book via an Australian Croatian website and the booking was done. Clearly I didn’t research the detailed itinerary that well, just the backbone, and was surprised in a nice way, at how many included tours there are.

The concept of this vessel is the complete opposite to the large cruises in this area. (I’d originally looked at a Croatian cruise on a Celebrity ship but that was heavily booked months out and there was a weirdness in that booking so we ended up not going. This cruise sails out of Venice which we’ve already done but it’s such a fabulous experience so happy to do it again, however that didn’t come to pass.). So our booked cruise is docked overnight, you spend the evening on land and enjoying the local foods, come back to sleep and in the morning there might be another land activity or you start to motor towards the next place. Go for a swim off the aft. Have lunch onboard then in the afternoon, dock, venture out for dinner and so on.

Ironically the Celebrity ship is in Dubrovnik on the day our baby ship will be also.

Our schedule now is that we fly out of Milan via Zurich on Swiss Air to Dubrovnik. We’ve paid for an apartment that has a washing machine which will be great after several days travel. The next day we board the ship as follows:

Day 1 Dubrovnik
Embarkation is from 14.00hrs. After settling in to your cabin, meet your fellow passengers and cruise manager for a welcome drink, and then venture out to explore the walled, medieval city of Dubrovnik.
So Dinner in Dubrovnik (for 2 nights)

PixaBay has fantastic free downloadable images. I will have my own soon but reckon I can’t better these.

We did a sail for a week in June on a small boat (14 of us - 5 crew) departing Split. Our trip was very similar to how you describe, visiting an island lunch or dinner on board and the rest of the day exploring or jumping off the back of the boat in to pristine waters.
Love those Croatian islands and its a beautiful time of year. Enjoy!
I will look forward to sailing along with you.

Day 6 Vis-Hvar-Stari Grad
This morning sail towards Hvar, one of the most popular islands in the Adriatic and a meeting point for the international jetset. Enjoy a sightseeing tour featuring the first public theatre in Europe, the Franciscan Monastery and many more historical sights. Overnight in Stari Grad, this evening enjoy a Captain’s dinner with live entertainment aboard your ship. (B, L, D)

I have read that we will be expected to get up during the dinner and sing an Australian song. I guarantee it WILL NOT BE Advance Australia Fair. MrP has not been advised of this development

I’m thinking Waltzing Matilda. Any other ideas for rank singers?

Day7 Stari Grad–Bol-Split
This morning sail to Bol, a small town on Brac island, here you can swim at the Golden Horn and enjoy the long golden pebble beach, said to be the best in Croatia. After lunch on board continue sailing to Split, a walking tour shows you the historic inner city built around the Roman Emperor Diocletian's Palace. See the remnants of Split's Roman heritage, it's Renaissance and Gothic structures, Jupiter's Temple, the Peristyle and the Cathedral. Your evening is free in Split (B, L)

This is the day I want it to be warm and sunny. Because..........

Ah. Didn’t think of that one. Tricky vocals.

Looks fabulous - hope it exceeds expectations and looking forward to lots of photos

Loved the hospitality of the Croatians who hosted us in Korcula & Hvar-the quality of the schnapps varied but always strong!
