We are in Doha now. Flight was excellent with great crew.

I’ll just upload a few pictures. The seat was excellent. Comfortable. I did find it a little narrow around the knees when lying but I certainly slept for around 6 hours.

Just back from a shower at Al Mourjan which after 24 hours was very nice.

Hadn’t planned to eat but given it’s a long flight and plenty of time to sleep, I ordered.

First was an amusee bouche. It tasted like Pork! But clearly wasn’t.

Then soup. Brightest of reds and was simply excellent. Hot and spicy.

Then beef fillet. Nicely cooked as I like my steak medium. Very nice.

I was pretty much done by now but had ordered the chocolate cake. It was a little dry and I shouldn’t have ordered it as I was full.

I woke this morning after around 7 hours. Mr P and I were separated by 9 rows and across the aisle. This seemed to cause a snaffu as we boarded; additionally all the Adelaide redirected passengers got a ‘denied boarding’ when we scanned our Adelaide Qantas derived BP. Another lady almost lost it when it happened to her but I said it should be fine - it was just an Adelaide thing. But stressful to be happening in Melbourne.

I had a tiny breakfast this morning which is all that I needed. Yummy.

This is where we took a turn to avoid airspace over the other Emirates.

Is that your thyroid medication in a cooler?
Nah. I don’t bother with that. Stuffed in my bag.
We are at the Gate Lounge. Oh they do not like it when non Business pax use the wrong lane. I thought they were just a bit abrupt generally but they were in the wrong queue. We were given royal treatment.

Gates at entry to the lounge. Sparkly.

Gotta love a good immigration queue.

Around an hour.

Flight from Doha was excellent with great crew.

Food cough. Simple stuff. The chai tea was wonderful.

The waiting Qatar rep told us we were the first of the flight through Customs. 90 minutes later.

We are at the dock waiting for a shared shuttle to the hotel. It’s always a great James Bond entry. It’s not raining.

Hope you have a great trip even with the small hiccups and false start. Looking forward to reading the trip report.

I do love Venice. Photo ops everywhere.
Arrived into the Hotel which is boutique style and refurbed just over a year ago. Nice staff.
Room modern and good features but very little storage space. No drawers etc. Free fast wifi.

Off for a drink and early tea. When in Italy - pizza! Pasta can wait.

An upholsterer at work. Notice the original singer tredley machine.

I'm glad to see a more cheery note to your posts - after the hassles you had getting to Venice. It should be plain sailing from now on :)

We were surprised to be offered Champagne whilst boarding from Doha.

And delighted.

This is it

We weren’t looking for alcohol in the lounge at the time but couldn’t see any. And @love_the_life is correct in that it will still be going when we return. We will be there for 4 hours in the afternoon. Will be interesting to see what happens when we depart Doha for Adelaide. The food service was going strong in the lounge and obvious Muslim people (women in burqa or headscarves) were eating. And an assumption that Muslim men were also eating.
