Going to be a weird day. Heard nothing from Qatar as yet but looked up our Booking reference and it shows us out of Adelaide tonight at 6pm then on Qatar A388 Melbourne to Doha then onward to Venice same flight 24 hours later.

Details also show up in Qantas app. Can’t book any seats on the A388 though. Can on the flight Doha to Venice. At least we are going I guess.

So, we have a day in Adelaide. We have to check out and have luggage. No point going home - builders in force and no access to our rooms except lounge room. Will get some breakfast here and maybe wander into town.

What a PITA but at least you are showing as on the plane! Enjoy the day discovering Adelaide ( as if!).
And you’ll probably be exhausted with little sleep.

We decided that an hour between Adelaide - Mel flight before connecting to Doha wasn’t on after last night so called Qantas premium line. We ended up being rebooked at 3pm which makes the day a bit less weird. We can have a shower in the F lounge before the 14 hour flight to Doha. That call took a while then it refreshed on my screen. As I hung up Qatar rang. I think the screen refreshed for her as she was talking as she hesitated with the Domestic flight. But that’s fine. She confirmed our seats on 380 which is full as 2 window seats but way apart and one each side. That’s fine as it’s a night flight and then we can catch up in the bar.

Italian hotel being a holes. I contacted them immediately last night and said we are still coming and not to cancel our booking. They have a credit card on file, we are booked for four nights. Their response - we will hold your room until 11am Thursday and also take the first night payment (tonight). They said if we could advise them of updated details ASAP then they will refer to the booking area to see what they can do. WTF? We have booked for 4 nights! If we don’t show on the first night but they have taken payment anyway why 11am?

I sent them an email confirming our 1 day late arrival, arriving into airport at 1.20pm (after their deadline); acknowledged they have already deducted one night for our non arrival and can not see why there is any issue. They are fully booked but they already have our booking!

I will lose it if we arrive into Venice with no accommodation and they will hear all about it on TA, Facebook and sadly even twitface. Morons.

You have to wonder about hoteliers sometimes. Hopefully you will arrive and the room will still be yours. At least an earlier flight from ADL means a bit more time to relax in MEL and also less time to fill in in ADL. Do not let MrP go to work.

Caught up with another couple from last night downstairs. They are flying Virgin to connect with the flight we are on. They’ve never been on Virgin before. They are in J also.

goddam_ it - must be weird to stay in a hotel in your own home town and then get kicked out. I think I'd be asking Qatar for an extra night or pay for a late check out but at least you're in the F lounge in MEL. Hopefully smoother times from now and the Venice hotel plays ball - they obviously don't know you very well or they'd be quivering in their boots about now if they were thinking of cancelling. It really shouldn't matter. They should only assume that you're meant to be there until proven otherwise (while applying access rules of course). Anything less isn't F

They relented and told me not to worry

It was seriously weird staying in an Adelaide hotel and popping into Rundle Mall to buy something from apple. Bumped into a friend and usual conversation went along the lines of what are you doing here. Created a longer convo. Apparently a lot of Adelaide people didn’t go home last night. The other couple we met in Peppers said ‘stuff em, fridge and everything turned off so no way’.
