Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

how we get confused when we hold too much wine..lol
anyway I got some of those as well......have you had a chance to try?

Not yet, sorry. It's down the list a bit as there are a few other things we want to drink first.

This came in from Tahbilk Wine Members Club today.

Change of vintage + excess stocks of earlier vintages = great savings!

As part of the Tahbilk family of companies, our partners at Four Sisters have been caught out with excess stocks as vintages have changed.
A problem for them but a great opportunity for us to offer outstanding savings to our Wine Club Members!
Each of these Four Sisters 'Bin End' specials will be
JUST $95.40 PER DOZEN
That's only $7.95 per bottle - you save $6.00 per bottle!

Can't remember the last time I saw a Four Sisters wine! I swear it was big in the late 90's/early 00's.

Also another deal that's just hit for the Cab lovers out there who don't get label sensitive from our friends at Kemenys:

Reminder - this is Australia’s best value cabernetThe Hidden Label Coonawarra Cabernet 2012 is arguably the greatest-ever example of this legendary cabernet.
The Hidden Label Coonawarra Cabernet 2012 is arguably the greatest-ever example of this legendary cabernet. Under its own label, wine critic Campbell Mattinson in the Wine Front wrote: “it has a loveliness, this cabernet. A soft heart. It’s grunty and tannic through the finish and the mid palate is sweet and ripe and perfectly pitched. Blackcurrant, tobacco, black olive, mint. It is a wine of quiet insistence and yet it’s not under-powered”. If you can keep your hands off it, it will cellar for another 10 or so years. James Halliday recently selected the wine as one of his top cellaring picks. Reinforcing the point, the highly respected UK wine critic Matthew Jukes rated the Hidden Label Cabernet 2012 a huge 18.5/20. Matthew included the wine in his 100 Best Australian Wines 2014/15 and made the argument that the winemaker (who unfortunately we cannot disclose) “is right up there with only a handful of cabernet producers on the planet at this level of excellence”. If you enjoy the modern elegant Coonawarra Style, this cabernet would make an excellent “go to” wine.
Kemenys has just been able to do a special deal with this famous winery and we are passing on the savings directly to you. This is a permanent price reduction until it is all gone. Now only $10 a bottle.
Order @kemenys.com or call us on 13 8881.
Cheers and have a great long weekend.
A legendary Australian cabernet
Crimson-purple colour; the perfumed bouquet has a striking lavender note, moist obvious when the glass is swirled and held some distance away from your nose: the medium-bodied palate has been fashioned with great dexterity, placing the main emphasis on the blackcurrant fruit, but allowing the tannins to reassure you of the potential of the wine if you decide to cellar some. Alcohol: 13.5%. Drink: to 2030. Price: $25. Rating: 95/100.

Hidden Label Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 95/100
$10.00 RRP $25.00 SAVE 60%
[reviewed under original label on 4 November 2013]. It has a loveliness, this cabernet. A soft heart. It's grunty and tannic through the finish but the mid palate is sweet and ripe and perfectly pitched. Blackcurrant, tobacco, black olive, mint. It is a wine of quiet insistence and yet it's not under-powered. Alcohol: 13.5%. Closure: screwcap. Drink: 2017-2024+. Price: $25. Rating: 93+/100.
Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
My featured wine is the 2012 a slightly lighter wine than any of the striking 2010s and this means it has a degree of immediacy and polish which the other will eventually grow into. The sleek lines and smooth texture make this an accessible wine and it still parades Coonawarra's dirt and eucalypt so purists will be delighted, too. It has a modern finish with dry but not coarse tannins and if {the winery} continue to polish this wine in vintages to come it might just be the best emissary they have ever employed. This is another 18.5/20 wine in my notes and so {winery winemaker} is right up there with only a handful of cabernet producers on the planet at this level of excellence.

Wynn's The Siding. Which can be had for around $12 at Dan's with label.

Have I have mentioned I like Amelia Park Wines ... ?!

I love them, especially the Reserves which mof_ introduced to me, and no doubt many of you.

I have put my money where my mouth is, and have signed up to Amelia Park's Wine Club Membership:

https://ameliaparkwines.com.au/wine-club/

The membership includes getting a 6 Pack of their latest release every 6 months for $20 a bottle (including delivery). Happy to pay that direct to the Winery even if some of that 6 Pack will no doubt be shifted (slightly) cheaper through the online retailers, as their wines are lovely to drink during the week. And I doubt there will be any duds. You also get 20% off, and access to their older wines, and the usual promotional stuff during the year.

Thanks for the info Wozza. I do like Amelia Park as well ... so much so I had to remind myself how good their wine is, so I cracked open one of their 2012 Cabernet Merlot wines - blissful drinking. Mind you I had to show restraint from opening one of the Reserve Shiraz I've stowed away.

It was cough didnt miss a thing.
Huge crowds in front of the tasting bench with nothing exciting on it. No specials that interested me. Free 4 pach of 200ml cat amongst the pigeons shiraz

What sort of things were there?

Tasting bench had stuff like a by arras, cr chris ringland, gentlemans agreement. Nothing over about $20 and nothing i was interested in lining up for 20 mins for.

Best specials were wynns black label for $25, moet for $44, parker terra rossa for $25 and a 3 pack of bin28/rwt/st henri for $275. Didnt care enough to check vintages

I did go in the end, to the Gabba store. Not too busy, although being second there probably helped. Fairly uninspiring so I grabbed the free bag and left. I got Cab Sav, but would have preferred Shiraz, I think.

Yes it was very disappointing. I went there expecting the specials that everyone raved on about last year, but instead it was a poor selection of wines - not much better value than what you get with Dan's online delivery only specials. Come to think of it, at least with those specials you can add Cash Rewards! There was also a lot of confusion over the way they advertised the Parker Coonawarra Terra Rossa varieties special, as a few people picked up the Cellar Release version but were then told that these bottles were excluded.

Wow, that's very poor. Doesn't seem any better than their every day deals.
