Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

This doesn't seem particularly good value. Moet can be had for under $50 per bottle. Piper can be bought for between $35-40. I don't know Gosset but it would have to be fairly expensive (and good champagne) to make the 6 pack worthwhile.

Speaking of Champagne..... Got an email from my account manager at Wine Direct this afternoon containing this Champagne

Does anyone know much about Bernard Remy?

Agree ... I think the Gosset retails between $40 to $50, so it's not value for money. The Gosset Reserve is a lot more expensive, $80 to $100, which would have made it a better deal - but still not great.

I think the Barossa Red dozen is much better value.

Dan's order has been "onboard for delivery" since 8am. 27C day and a case of red wine....

today only: Penfolds Kalimna Bin 28 Shiraz 2013 — $25 per bottle.
Buy 4 online for total $100 (+ 4.15% cashback), and get $15 back from Amex with current promo so $80.85 for 4 or $20.21 each - did this twice (separate Amex card), and will be going to my local Dan's shortly to collect the 8 bottles :)

It says a dozen. Two are the Meshach. What's the makeup of the remaining 10? I can't find where that's listed. I can see the three other wines, but three doesn't go into 10. Anyone know?

Same problem for me. Without specifying the quantities of each I'm out.

[h=3]Wine Review: Mollydooker Carnival Love Shiraz 2010 and Velvet Glove Shiraz 2010 - episode 132 | Wine Reviews | Video Reviews | Spitbucket Community of all things wine[/h]
I was discussing about the west ozzie winery that has some amazing labels, and it seems they follow it up with quality. I received my Winemarket best of w.a.reds dozen which included 2 Vinaceous Cabs, but going through youtube, I found this one abouve with two fellas talking about Mollydooker Shirazes.

Towards the end, the right hand side bloke who looks a bit like peter buck from REM raises a very interesting point about approachability, price etc. Considering the reds were 2010's and I think this episode of spitbucket was filmed only 2 years later, I think we can cut Mollydooker a lot of slack as they are meant for the very long haul. Nevertheless, I liked the initial laconic banter and the interaction with these guys.

I missed out on this wine a few times through the Fo this year, so was pleased to see today's offer from WineMarket of the Lindemans Pyrus Cabernet Blend 2012 (6 Pack):

Lindemans Pyrus Cabernet Blend 2012 (6 Bottles)

With cash back of 7.35% through Cash Rewards, the 6 Pack has come in at $185 delivered - that's just over $30 a bottle, which is not bad. And this is my style of wine - with one to savour now, and the rest to tuck away for my Forties (God willing, if I am around then)!

If you are interested, the offer only runs for 12 hours or until stock runs out.

I got some of the CR shiraz in the Dan's pack mentioned here recently (with the 08 Meshach) - it's ok but nothing special and not (IMO) worth the $25 at Dan's compared with other options.

Agree with you - Dan's had a tasting some years ago with the Ringland CR and the next level up Ringland ( can't recall name but it sold for about $46) - that was a nice wine - chalk and cheese

Dang, I missed out on the Pyrus, they are showing sold out now. That's what I get for having a day away from the computer. It's a pity, the Pyrus, St George and Limestone Ridge are some of my all-time favourite wines. Oh well, maybe the FO will relist them one day for me.

Reservation is the next one up. CR is a Woolworths group 'exclusive' IIRC. Prices regularly fall below $20 for it, and it's often included in various discount bundles etc.

Not sure if this is the right place or of any interest , but TWE have Wolf Blass White Label riesling 2001 for $150 per 6 case , free shipping.

On the coach to the Clare Valley, we had the opportunity for a brief rest stop and the opportunity to taste 2 wines that I brought along. I should add that:

1. I receive no financial (or other) benefit.
2. I have initiated this post and am not posting on behalf of someone else.
3. I do personally know the owner of the label hence I have been able to negotiate a promo code if anybody is interested in purchasing these wines.

The 2 wines that we tasted are a Clare Valley Riesling with a nose similar to grapefruit or mango, the palate nice ripe tropical fruit with a nice medium finish. For $120/dozen delivered for a typical Clare riesling it's a bargain IMHO.
The other wine is a Clare Valley Cabernet. On wood for 18 months, it is rich and intense with upfront fruit, with spice and oak on the palate. A tannic wine that will cellar for up to 10 years. This one is available for $120/6 pack delivered.

The grapes for both these bespoke wines are grown on a 5 acre plot, which is rare, and are hand picked.

Hopefully somebody that was on the coach will also review these wines so you get another, unbiased opinion.

I guess no one knows how long their present job will last, but I hope these bargains are not as acidic as the winemakers mates.
