Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I went back to the Serafino sale to look at the Shiraz again and it's no longer there. But I decided to grab the 2013 Reserve Tempranillo for <$6/btl delivered, good value I think even if it is a clean skin.
Would you like to sell 4-6 of them? 12 is too much for moi.

Fellow $3.80 wine lovers rejoice! Here is a compelling offer from Dan's (the new CM) posted on ozb
Cheaper than perrier.

Fresh from a trophy winning performance at the McLaren Vale wine show, and a HUGE 96pts from James Halliday, the $80 per bottle 2019 Heirloom Alcala Grenache is yours, TONIGHT ONLY, for an unbelievable $26.99. Secure this legendary 'Mystery' wine now at twc-wine.com.au/ISKO2bR

I hear on the grapevine (pun intended) that Sam Kim is about to rate it 97.5 points
I guess it will be his first 100+ rating.

Can it be used to run a lawnmower?

Ray Jordan just released his Top 100 Reds.
I think there's different categories.

DeBortoli Sacred Hill Shiraz 2019 was listed as the budget from what I can read and can be found for $5

I don't have access to The West.

I was drinking it some 15 years ago before to become a snob ;) That was the best I could find for my little money.

So I got this deal from Cellar One (an incredibly well priced assorted intro 6 pack). The deal was so good that I got another 6 pack too.

Wasnt sure what to open, thought I would crack The Holy Trinity by Grand Burge. (To get rid of the least liked type and also one under cork).

Opened up and even though the cork looks to be in a good almost pristine shape, the mould smell is overpowering. Made my wife to try it and she just said “I always disliked GSMs”. To prove my (wtf in this day and age people still use and prefer corks) point, I opened the second one I had.
Night and day. So I used this as a teaching moment for my family to smell test what a cork tainted wine actually smells and tastes like against a perfectly normal bottle.

@misohoney that is the reason why I was reluctant to get that discounted 15% off 2017 Blackwell Shiraz under cork.

I would ask for a refund. Trick is finding which account you used to purchase!
I will email them tomorrow morning to see what they say. BTW even though it is 2018 .. it is a bit ordinary (a good bottle) in my tasting opinion.. so I am not going any sleep if they don’t replace it.

I'm with you there - not a fan of the holy trinity. Would still drink it over a Mud House Pinot though!
Interesting that after a couple of hours, the mould smell and taste have dissipated but it it still flat and lifeless compared to a good bottle.
