Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

2 for $90 is still a good deal - esp with WISH + CashBack + AmEx Credits

It's closer to $23 a bottle with all of the available discounts. This is the standard 'on special' price for items like the Wolf Blass and the Penfolds BIN 2. So would make the magnum, which I'd value at $50 (although DM's value at $70) free.

Fairly good deal.

Picked up mine today after doing the click and collect thing. Was about 40 magnums in store. Interesting that this was the 2014 for the magnum. Some might remember the deal around 5 months ago where you got a magnum by mail - this was a 2012 for me.

Not sure how many of you use Vivino - but when I am not sure, I tend to get (an averaged) second opinion from the collective reviews:

http://www.vivino.com/wines/9283039

When I read the Vivino reviews now, I can see similar themes coming out that suggest JH and others are fairly close to the mark (although JH appears to make what sounds like a fairly herbaceous, tart ending wine sound pretty good!).

So from 25 reviews, the Penley 13 Cab scores 3.5 out of 5. That's not too bad, but you'll just have to take it on notice that you'll be drinking something that's a bit drying, herbaceous and medium bodied. It won't be for everyone, but there are enough people (everyday drinkers like you and me) that seem to think it's not bad.

Would I buy it based on the 4/5 expert reviews above and the collective 3.5 score? Nope. I would rather drink something that is more likely to get me excited and pay a bit more. But each to their own, I guess ...!

the deal was 120 including 2 greys and 10 penleys. make it 70 for 10 penleys. not too shabby as a lay down proposition and 3.5 on vivino aint bad at all. Not for me but a good deal in context.

Well this is unusual to post but I just bought a case from Cellarmasters for the first time in ages and am very happy with it. It is the Peter Lehmann Layers 2013 red blend and was $70 a case plus delivery with a $50 gift card that arrived in the mail. Looks to be a cancelled export order but is drinking beautifully.

Kincho I think Peter Lehman reds are pretty good for the money and I have never had one that was not suitable for drinking now. The Dans deal for Moët using pricepal and two Woolies e-gift cards made their bubbly a buy.

2012 St Henri $69.99 in a six bottle buy at Vintage Cellars today only.

Edit: Also if you buy six you get a $25 voucher for your next visit.

I'm actually a big fan of this. Had the 2010 and 2012. Wonderful quaffer, and not so in your face like Clancys (which I'm also a big fan of).

Funny you should mention the Clancys electrotek. I picked up the last three on the shelves at our BWS this week for a stunning sub $5 price each on clearance. Only checked vintage on one bottle at purchase (2013) and was very surprised to find one of each 2011-12-13 when I got home. I can vouch for the 2011 as we had it tonight and it was good.

Clancys 2011 was actually one of the lesser ones in my opinion. Been heavily available for a long while now. 2012 has finally hit some shelves. Didn't think 2013 was out yet. I've been drinking this since about 2004 vintage!

Looking forward to the 2012. I didn't expect much from the 2011 as it was generally a very bad year for SA reds so was pleasantly surprised. Have you tried the Peter Lehmann 2013 Layers red blend? Recommended.

Has anyone tasted the 2012 Thorn-Clarke James Goddard Barossa shiraz? Currently at Cellarmasters for a tad under $180 for 12 less 30% plus delivery.

Another deal Similar to the Meshach one of a few months ago, this time the Grant Burge Abednego is the premium wine price wise.

Many thanks for this one.....97 pointer, this could be an absolutely ridiculous deal. One wine itself costs the $95.
The brookdale is a nice wine as well. Getting a mixed variety of quality quaffers is also a good thing for a little diversity.

Thanks again jeza......you beauty !

PS Just went outside to check the mail, a magnificent day out there just got better . Sitting at the doorstep like one of the felines is a twelve pack of Fox Gordon Savvy 2013. Six bucks a bottle delivered. Christmas is coming early for me this year !

Beefarmer I just edited my post to note that the points apart from the Parker are from the DM wine panel & some have thought there may be a bit of point inflation at times. Not saying this is the case in this instance, more as something to bear in mind when deciding whether to buy or not.
