Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I tried the sticky last night. Concur with it being ok. Yet to try my cabernet Verdot
Finally got my hands on the Cabernet Verdot (and Chapel Hill Shiraz) from Uleybury and was more than pleasantly surprised after opening them. First impressions for the Cabernet Verdot (after a decent breathe) is I like it! This is a very singular wine, the more it opened up and naturally, the more I drank of it, the better it got, certainly more red-fruit forward but it had for me at least a real "personality" different by far to a straight Cab Sav, a bit funky, a bit savoury I think it is a dead set bargain and (for the record) better than the more expensive Shiraz which is pleasant but not as characterful... Taking one for the team never felt so good

Last night had that 2020 Italian sauve and a couple of glasses. Beautiful wine indeed. Better than last Saturday nights trial. It was tasted a bit cooler this time so i reckon that sparked up the freshness appeal. But for the $9 dannys members price, this is easily a magnificent buy. A full flavoured wine, which is my number one priority followed by quality in the fruit and it has that. Ease of enjoyment, nothing harsh, glides down effortlessly. Moorish. Yep, its a great one indeed. The name of it was one or two pages now as I realise but you'll get that. I have no idea how long they last but it certainly tasted like it has 3-5years minimum.

Nice to snare some cheapies. You and I must have dreamt of Shakespeare last night as we are both pushing those letters on the keyboard.
I have Thai for 4 this Sat night so out will come another Soave.

Found some value on Qantas wine. Heidsieck And Co Champagne Monopole Gold Top 2010 In Gift Box available on Qantas wine using points 5,000 per bottle vs 14,333 per bottle in a 6.

Shows as 5220 points for me, but comes down to 4698 with the PC+ 10% discount. Reviews on Community Tasting Notes - 2010 Heidsieck & Co. Monopole Champagne Gold Top Brut aren't enough to convince me that it's worth parting with the points.

Edit: I'd still say though that is is good points per dollar redemption, but I question whether the wine is worth even the reduced points.

Exactly! I wouldn't rate this much higher than vinegar but each to their own of course.

Opened a cab verdot tonight and I like it. Funky and savoury is a good description. Really wants to be had with food but drinks well now and probably for at least 5 years. I'm happy to have a dozen of them. Absolute bargain at $5 a bottle
