This is wonderfully fruited and complex on the nose showing dark berry, game, dried herb and toasted spice aromas with a hint of earthy mushrooms. The refined palate delivers juicy flavours together with fleshy texture and silky tannins, leading to a seductively elegant finish. If you are looking for a complex and early drinking style of Yarra Valley Pinot Noir, this wine will hit the spot with quality winemaking and fruit coming together to create a deliciously drinkable style. It opens with beautifully perfumed aromas – cranberry, raspberry, cinnamon stick and more ground spice with some floral rose petal delicacy adding interest. It is one of those pinots that gives so much aromatically. On the palate it is pure silk – earthy fruits that are open and fleshy supported by silky tannins to a long and engaging finish. It could do with a little more concentration but offers plenty of pinot personality to enjoy over the next 3 or 4 years. Price: $60.00; Rating: 93 Points; Wine Pilot
A bright light ruby. Fecund strawberry, sour cherry, rhubarb and an Asian sachet of cardamom, five-spice and tamarind. Dill and mescal, too, from a solid whole bunch quotient. Light-weight of feel, belying a core of expanding sweetness and impressive intensity of flavour. The oak, palpable but well nestled; the acidity, juicy; the tannins, slinky, lithe and herbal. A fine contemporary expression of Upper Yarra Pinot, boasting succulence, a svelte air and plenty of crunch. Alcohol: 12.5%; Rating: 93 Points; Ned Goodwin; MW
