Hi, popped a bottle of 2016 curtis martins Vineyard shiraz for some mates. I remember buying it from VC about 18 months ago for $30. Anyone know where to find for a similar price at the moment? I know they are perennial discounted wine but my friend is asking despite my best advice to the contrary.

Secret 97pt, Gold Medal Uber Premium 2018 McLaren Vale Shiraz 6 Pack

Personally I would not pay over $10 for it - Maybe I am being a bit cavalier but Curtis Cavaliere was much better I thought

I'm pretty sure the 2018 is at VC as an unearthed wine at $35 given the description. I take it no-one rates it that highly?

My local First Choice has a number of "While Stocks Lasts" at $5
A few of them here. No great expectations on my part but the Malbec was OK when I bought it at $8

Seen all of those in Victorian stores. Only bought the Rioja from your picture which was good value for a Spanish import (2018 vintage). Seems they can't move The Tutor for love or money.

Personally, I can't imagine an imported wine for under $20 with freight + duty and taxes is worth the effort of opening it let alone one from Rioja. Seems like a poor man's version Yellow Tail to me. Their base level export fodder.

Bargains are great, we all love them but cheap is often self fulfilling.

@Tanark2 I was commenting on the fact that at $5 with an average user-reported price of $19 and average rating 3.7 on Vivino it's at least worth a punt...

"Tony rated this wine 4 Stars.
Last 🇪🇸 wine after a long work weekend in Palma de Mallorca and ironically my favourite is from Sainsbury’s 🤷🏼‍♂️. Really liked this Rioja, cherry red in colour and fantastic value with aromas of ripe blackberry and toasted almonds. Full bodied, luxurious oaky vanilla flavours mixed with red currant and plum fruits. Long smooth finish, soft silky tannin with hints of spice make this a well balanced and elegant wine...great value for a tenner."
A tenner in the UK equates to roughly $18 AUD so the full RRP pricing in Oz despite freight + duty and taxes is nearly equivalent...

haha, I hear you, though it's $10 instead of $20 for me. :) For $5 I find it a lot better than Aussie "quaffers"/sugar bombs to my palate. Wish we had more affordable Spanish/Portugese wines available here.
