Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Thanks rhodges, I took the plunge in any case as I like the maker and the region. Suspect it won't be a patch on the 2008 Wynns Coonawarra Cab with the rack of lamb for lunch today though!

Excellent, this is great news. I've just taken the opportunity to purchase another 2 of the riesling superstar packs. This is terrific value for some really nice riesling. I bought one pack a couple of weeks ago, but this will give me a few bottles of each wine to put down for a nice long rest. Now all I need is the patience not to drink them too soon.

yes, nice little collection. I got one pack over Xmas and am adding an additional one to the list of January wine purchases I need to resist!

Yes. I'm suspecting they are using the T&C that using codes not advertised on the cash back site will invalidate the cash back or something like that.

Does anyone know what the difference between the "Coonawarra" and "Terra Rossa" labels is? I would assume TR commands a price premium for some reason? Is it older vines? Or just a different blend of blocks?

I posted last week regarding United Cellars Selection 'Shiraz By Yangarra Estate' 2014. The winemaker is Peter Fraser - Winemaker of the year, James Halliday's Wine Companion 2016.
The cases arrived in less than 24 hrs. I opened a bottle last night. I would recommend this wine as it punches above its weight.

Terra Rossa comes from southern Coonawarra vs. north Coonawarra for the cheaper label, according to their website

Flagship wine = best fruit they have in the best oak for longer. Whether it is worth 3 times the price is a personal judgement.
The 2008 First Growth was selling for $55 as a mystery wine on Wine Market last September.

I think previous poster was asking what the difference it between the regular Parker Estate Coonawarra Cabernet, and the Parker Estate Terra Rossa Coonawarra Cabernet is.

I was going to say, the $100 RRP seems a bit high compared to what people actually would pay for the First Growth. I recall it being offered around the $65-$75 mark (labelled / advertised).

So by my estimation you are getting the 6 bottles or Terra Rossa for about $18-20 a bottle, and the First Growth for about $59-69-ish.

I was, but you answered my question. Thanks BTW :)

That's kind of my valuation too, given that I've seen Parker Terra Rossa offered below $20 in the past year (forget where now, though) and picked up a bottle of first growth for $38 on clearance. Unless one needs exactly these wines right now, it's not that great a deal.

I've had some great Ferngrove wines over the last couple of years.

It's been offered at around this price ($16.95-$16.50) since about last June, seems hard to move.
There are some positive reviews around, but Huon Hooke scored it at 84 and gave an indication that it could be brett-affected.

the description does look very similar to the 94/95 point Halliday shiraz pack which i ordered before Christmas. You are on the money with Mt Ida, Heirloom, Grey label and Dawkins. If it is the same then the others were Zonte's Footstep & Mavericks Paraview.
