I don't think he was referring to this scenario, as of course you'll reference other ways to get a price lower on a particular deal. I think what he's referring to are the constant "<insert cashback %> at <insert store> today" and that being the extent of the post.I appreciate this is probably more observation than complaint. The problem is, no matter how good the deal, it can't hurt to throw an extra 2% cashback on top to make it even sweeter. Consequently most will mention cashback to demonstrate the lowest possible price.
If you don't trust cashback sites - who could blame you - don't use them; I personally like it when someone else does all the leg-work to determine how to best stack deals to get to the lowest price.
In truth, as long as I've been here, It's been that way. Most will remember the crazy stacks achieved by buying gift cards, getting six bottle discounts, using coupon codes and applying cashback (e.g. Cellarmasters).
