This one is not too shabby too YALUMBA The Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra 2017 | Langton's Fine Wines 97 points by JH. Tried long time ago at Yalumba - really liked it but went with Signature. Happy to grab it at $35

Dave Brookes

An icon in Australian wine, Yalumba’s Coonawarra-born Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon has long stood at the pointy end of our country's fine-wine pyramid, and I’m sure many will fondly remember occasions when a well-cellared example of the Menzies has knocked their socks off. Nothing’s changed, perhaps the oak has been dialled back a little, but that classic, herbal-flecked blackberry and blackcurrant fruit at its core is all elegance and latent power. Fine spice and graphite-like tannins lay down layers on the palate. The finish is long and with impeccable balance, trailing off with a vapour trail of blackcurrant, cedar and olive tapenade. It’s a classic.

I know a few folk here always looking out for a decent Pinot Noir bargain - $19 is a solid price for Holm Oak. Always one of the better Sub $40 tassie pinots.

Huon Hooke

Medium to full brick-red colour, advanced for its age, and a vegetal, humus-like bouquet, which is likewise very forward. The green vegetal unripe notes dominate the wine. Asparagus; canned corn. There's a hollowness in the mid-palate and the wine is very sinewy and a bit stringy. Query whole-bunch fermentation? 26 SEP 2018 81 pts
Drink 2018–2018
I've just popped a Douglas open after ordering a few at the beginning of the week (and well before reading this HH review). 1 glass is enough of a challenge to get through for me - quite an unpleasant finish. I feel its a good wine club conversation starter and that is it's purpose but jeepers it's a slog to drink.

oh no I missed it 🥲😢😭
I saw it, but for some reason thought it was their other wine.

It's always being cleared through BWS at $100, with cashback it'll be under $80.

If lucky, Langtons will list it again.

ANGOVE'S Warboys Vineyard Shiraz, McLaren Vale 2018 $30.00
DANDELION VINEYARDS Treasure Trove of McLaren Vale Grenache, McLaren Vale 2019 $13.00
SPINIFEX Esprit Mataro Grenache Cinsault, Barossa Valley 2020 $18.00
VERITAS ROLF BINDER WINES Bulls Blood Shiraz Mataro Pressings, Barossa Valley 2018 $30
YALUMBA The Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra 2017 $35.00

That's what I ended up with, there was solid whites too.
