Interesting, I placed my order at South Melb and got a phone call today saying stock levels were wrong and would I be ok with a different St Hallett wine worth $30 as there were no other 2013’s Blackwells in stock in Victoria. I said why not give me the 2019 Blackwell, he said because it’s not the same vintage. So I said, you never guarantee vintages will be the same when I place orders do you, he said no, so…I’m getting the 2019 instead.

Had a very similar experience in Canberra. They left a phone message today saying the 2013 Blackwell wasn't in stock (a stock level error). Haven't called them back yet. But I had the same experience a couple of months ago (I think back then it was a couple of bottles of Kay Brothers). Probably is just incompetence. But the cynic in me is thinking "is this some new dodgy tactic by Dans?".

Gah! I was doing so well not buying wine recently, but couldn't resist as I used to drink a bit of Bannockburn shiraz years ago... Now I read a few other reviews and it sounds like it's going to be a very weird fish indeed!

I bought some Shadowfax mondeuse noir a few years ago out of interest in its weirdness (and some reviews that didn't warn me adequately) and it's so not great I can't find an occasion to drink it. I wonder if I should be more cautious about Geelong, but I suppose I wont' judge til I try this latest one out...

Very tempted by this one as well as I also had my fair share of their Shiraz and love it. Remind me of a Côtes du Rhône. No ideas what the weird blend will be like but I guess it is worth a try!

Medium to full brick-red colour, advanced for its age, and a vegetal, humus-like bouquet, which is likewise very forward. The green vegetal unripe notes dominate the wine. Asparagus; canned corn. My picks - '19 Cab is a no brainer. Their sparkling shiraz is delicious. I had a ? 2010 merlot they had on tasting in July, curious enough to go in for 6 to put down for 10 and see how it goes. Also have cases of '15 CS for 31$ a pop.
