Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Does anyone know if the amex cashback deal works with WoW gift cards? For those not yet registered it is spend $100 for $20 back.
The Dans cards gave the cashback, just unsure of WoW.

A Dans card is a WISH card so can be used in any WOW store.

I have every intention of using the Dans cards at Dans. hic. ;)
My question relates to getting the Woolworths ecard $100 for $20 cashback via amex and which more than likely will be used at Dans as well. ;)

How odd - I wonder what underlies the pricing difference...
DM pricing for different states/regions (eg FNQ) is sort of understandable, but the variation between SE states and stores within a state have never been understandable to me. There are many similar instances. You can often work around it as indicated here if you can find the store with the cheap price, set that as your store and order for delivery. Then all you have to worry about is "vintage roulette".

It's a strange business, I often seen Victorian and NSW wines cheaper delivered from merchants in Adelaide / SA than those in Melbourne and Sydney and sometimes SA wines cheaper from Melb/Sydney than from Adelaide.

OK. I looked into that. When you search for 'Gift Card' at woolworthsonline.com.au you get a result which takes you to the everydaygiftcards.com.au site. I suspect a purchase there would not trigger the Amex cashback deal.

Now it comes back to me. I spoke with a Dans operative who told me that they price match to local competition. In this case I would say the price match is with First Choice, so if you call in your order you can ask to price match.

so if you call in your order you can ask to price match.
The problem with this is that rebates through CR / PP etc then cannot be achieved - best to just tell them where you see the likes of FC etc beating them and they will usually drop price online - then follow your normal CR / WISH procedure

Interesting that they expose their local store price matches online, given that an online order might be serviced from a central warehouse...

Can I relocate my residence to Manly for this afternoon, place an order for home delivery to VIC and then move home again next week?

I even have the IP ranges to boot.

It's complete garbage IMHO and encourages you to bend the rules... A bit like Netflix content licencing - total joke. The world is global - get with the times.

Why do you need to relocate your residence? You can set any store as your preferred store.

Be glad they expose their price match data online: at least you have a chance of getting the lower price. Most companies would just match for the customers who specifically ask for it, and not tell anyone else.

Try it!
The store rep just called to tell me prior to picking the order someone bought one bottle and that therefore only 5 remain. They are getting another 6 in later today. I told them that was ok. The rep said you wouldn't believe how some customers go off.

They only match to the nearest local competition.

Yet anyone in Australia can order from that store, and the prices are up for everyone to see...

Edit: responding to the earlier comment re 'the world is global - get with the times' It's easy to change things online, but not so easy to change the physicl pricing in every store
