Perhaps the system picked up your actual birthday date and hence allowed you to use it?
Seems you are correct....I didn't get an email...but on the home page under the headline "It's our birthday" there is a reference to my birthday...apologies for creating unnecessary excitement!

PS - the member level I am at is not supposed to be entitled to a birthday discount so maybe that's why I didn't get an email
 
Interestingly, my birthday (higher tier account) was on the 22nd March and I didn't get one.

My wife is early April (lower tier account) and she did.

I just boomed on it and it worked, even though my birthday isn't any time soon. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it!
 
Just a thought, I was not able to access my birthday code without being on their email list. I just had access to their site. Once added to list my birthday code worked
 
Yeah, the WELCOME25 certainly worked on my sub $200 purchase earlier. Errr, I mean my wife's purchase!
